I want to save money by working in the merchant navy and then become a pilot later in life. Let’s say I work for 4-5 years and save around ₹50-60 lakhs, and then take out a loan for the rest to do a cadet program (or conventional ) with a company like IndiGo(Ik it costs more, but I’m just saying.)

Can I continue my job in the merchant navy while applying for a cadet program? Just in case I complete the training and everything but there’s no vacancy at that moment and have to wait a year or two, I wouldn’t want to sit idle. Instead, can i continue with my job that left w 4/5 years of experience in

is that possible realistically??

Hey guys,

This might be a very absurd post, but it’s just an idea.

It’s my dream to become a pilot (fixed-wing or rotary), but I’m in a tough financial situation, so taking a loan isn’t an option for me. My eyesight isn’t great, so getting into the airforce route also seems unlikely right now (from what I’ve read, I’d have to wait until I’m 21, get LASIK, and then apply—and I don’t want to wait that long). I also have a lot of scars, so cabin crew isn’t really an option either.

I want to start earning money quickly and also experience different things in life. My plan is to work for a few years, save up, and then pursue my dream of flying.

I’ve thought of a lot of ways to make this happen, and I know this might sound unrealistic, but I was wondering—would it be possible to join the Merchant Navy, save money (since I’ve heard you can save a lot at sea), and then after a few years use those savings to fund my pilot training?

I understand there are a lot of challenges, but in general, does this sound like a workable plan? I also think working at sea sounds pretty amazing (I know it’s tough, but I feel like I could handle it).

I was considering doing DNS and joining the Merchant Navy. I know I’d be starting from zero again later, but after those years, it would still be my choice—and maybe I’d still want to pursue my dream.

I’m 17F, currently in 12th with PCM, and I’m from India.

Any guidance would really help.

I feel really lost and don’t know what to do. My dream was to get into aviation, but for various reasons, I can’t pursue it right now. i feel stuck.

I’m not strong in studies,I scored around 89% in my 10th boards, i took PCM

i have no future plan whatsoever right now. my parents want me to do engineering here in kolkata staying at home..but fucks sake they are hella toxic and i feel i will go insane if i stay one more year here (to make things easier to understand i have a camera in my bedroom, im 17F...yea..and thats not even the worst thing rn)

so i wanna go out of city for college very desperately.

I don’t think I’m suited for JEE, and I’ve already wasted my 11th. Even after all this, I still have this unrealistic dream of becoming rich.

What are some good career options I can choose so that I can earn and save a decent amount of money quickly, and eventually pursue my dream of aviation?

i have noone to take career guidance from other than chat gpt imo so if some of you can drop your suggestion or just life experience

would be great..

I’m in a bit of a tough spot financially, so taking a big loan isn’t really an option for me right now.

I want to get into aviation eventually, but I need to earn and save up as that would be a better financial option. What are some career path i should go for in order to save up a lot of money in a few years..(high paying initial salary)

So far I’ve looked into few like cabin crew and ETO (Electro-Technical Officer). I also have a small tattoo on my wrist, and a few scars so cabin crew might not work out.

i have bad eyesight too so airforce might not work either

I’m in 12th currently with maths+physics

what would be the smartest path to plan from here?
