Blood is too fatty?
I took my six-year-old golden retriever to the vet for a check up as he has been more fatigued, coat has become more rough, refuses to jump on the car or bed as he previously did. We were worried whether this was just regular aging or possibly thyroid issues. When I took him to the vet and they tried to run his thyroid test, they said his blood was too fatty so we fasted him for 24 hours and tried to repeat this, but they said they still were not able to do it because it was still too fatty. Does this commonly happen? We have never really been big on giving him too many treats and we strictly only give him Purina pro plan kibble which even then he only eats half of the recommended amount. He is 85 pounds. We walk him daily. even the vet was saying that he is only about 5 to 10 pounds overweight and overall seems healthy so they are unsure of why his blood is so fatty. Has anyone else had this issue? Any recommendations on what we can do?
