How do you feel brave enough to stop religiously taking your puppy outside for potty every 30 minutes she's awake? What should I be looking for?

We're doing the Ian Dunbar crate method. When she's not crated for nap/short periods of time, she's tethered to me. However, because I have two little kids, we are outside in the backyard quite a lot. Maybe this is a stupid question, but how do you know your puppy actually understands and is potty trained without you religiously just forcing outdoor opportunities like clockwork? I don't know where to go from this rigid schedule.

Edit to add: she's 9 weeks old going on 10 weeks, and her prior owner had her potty trained on pee pads. She thinks our carpet and rugs are pee pads so I am just always watching her like a hawk. Fortunately, 90% of my house is hardwood floors with one carpeted room (that I now have blocked off) and some rugs.

My new little girl

9 weeks brown standard and she's scrumptious. We picked her up today and drove 3+ hours home. She is the first dog in my adult life and first dog with my spouse and kids. To a long, joyful life together ❤️🐩🐾

A recent community post was talking about this highly recommended veterinarian practice and so many people were commenting about how the practice isn't accepting new patients.

I am welcoming a 9 week spoo next week and need to find a veterinary and figure eh, why not call to confirm. This was our conversation:

"I heard you guys are not accepting anyone new but I figured I would call to establish care for a new dog I'm getting next week."

"...."Well...that depends. What dog do you have?"

"She's a standard poodle."

"Oh, we love poodles here. Happy to have establish care with you. The owner herself has several standard poodles. Let me get some dates for you."

This cracked me up. Do some vets turn people away based on the dogs they have? Felt like I was trying to get a doctor appointment and told them I had a gold PPO 🤣

There is something about calling a fancy poodle Tammy or Tina that really makes me LOL. Open to all suggestions!
