First time poodle owner getting used to poodle quirks
I’ve never had a poodle before, and now I have a little mini poodle girl. I love her so, so much and I’m so surprised by all the little idiosyncrasies she has. Are these just poodle things? She has a personality that’s more cat like( she looooves me but only wants attention from others on her terms), she loves to attack me with licks and little gremlin noises several times a day, and she tries to burrow her head in my neck or just generally rub her face on mine before we go to bed, or when she wakes me up in the morning. She also uses her paws almost to express herself way more than other dogs I’ve had. Are these poodle traits or is she just weird? Any other little poodle quirks I should know about?
Poodles and kids with dog allergy
My daughter has been allergic to dogs (both saliva and fur) since she was quite young. I later discovered she also has allergies to cats, but that’s a different topic. Now at 6 years old, her allergies are still present, but I recently found that she doesn’t have a strong reaction to Golden Doodles. This has inspired me to research hypoallergenic dog breeds. While I understand that truly hypoallergenic breeds don’t exist, some, like Poodles, may result in fewer allergic reactions.
I’m reaching out to see if there are any fellow allergy sufferers here who own Poodles and have noticed a reduction in their allergy symptoms.
Additionally, I'm curious if starting Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy (ASIT) in childhood can help diminish dog allergies into adulthood and possibly even alleviate asthma symptoms as a bonus. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
My poddle is a year old and so hyper; does this breed every calm down? I had a Shih Tzu that pasted two years ago and she was so calm.
reddit.comSomeone didn't want to wear her hat this year...
Time flies when you're having fun!!!
When you want to go hiking, but mom has to work.. the drama! Millie has been huffing and puffing dramatically in my lap all morning.
The fading!
I knew poodles faded in theory but I didn’t really think about it too much until our little ghost face friend joined the family
Look at this little guy! Very curious to see what he looks like as he continues to grow.
Before and after (first groom!)
My hard work has paid off. The groomer said that he did really great and he did even better than a lot of the dogs that get groomed on the regular. I have been grooming him every day getting him used to the brush getting him used to the bath the blow dryer, touching different areas of his body. I even bought a kit to help shave and cut around his private parts and his face in between grooms to get him used to that as well. The first photo is pretty scary though😂 Bambi is a pretty boy
Chilling
Let’s see how long these bands last when she rubs them off lol
Handmade Parti Poodle !
I am a plush artist and poodle lover (hoping to get a spoo in the near future) and I thought you all would appreciate one of my newest creations– a parti poodle !
Created him for myself since I am also a plush collector and there are not many big, realistic poodle plushies out there ! And they almost never have the right kind of fur and are not often in the proper poodle cut ! I've also never seen a parti poodle plush and I absolutely ADORE partis so I had to make it happen. He's in a modified continental cut (no rosettes) :)
Hope you all like him as much as I do ! 💚
Toy poodle weight 3.7lbs at 8 weeks?
Just got this puppy today. Breeder said toy poodle, mom is 8 lbs and dad 10 lbs. At 8 weeks he weighs 3.7lbs. What was your poodle weight at 8 weeks and now as full grown?
Would appreciate some speedy healing vibes for this poor boy
Spent 6hrs in ER yesterday, and left with eight stitches and a bunch of antibiotics and pain meds for the poor boy. A freak accident tore up his front left paw pretty bad.
Photo is of Rocco attempting to fight the sedative effects of the opioids they put him on pre-stitches 😂
Posh collars?
Looking for an adequately posh dog collar for the local royalty.
Remembering Ranger One Year Later
It's been a year now since my spoo Ranger passed at the age of 15. My family had some poodles before him growing up, but he made me a poodle person for life. He was active - he loved running with me ("jog dogging," as he knew it). He was so big, strong, and intelligent that he would rear up on his hind legs, press down on the door handle, and let himself out to patrol the front of the house. He was very conspicuous in documenting the activities of the squirrels and memorizing where they lived so he could better chase them. But he was always a perfect gentleman at the vet.
He was so emotionally aware, too. Knew exactly when his human needed him, and which spot on my shoulder to rest his head for hugs and scritches.
The sorrow has passed now. What remains are fond memories, and the knowledge that I was blessed to have him in my life for as long as I did. It's with that fondness that I'm thinking of my big ol' floof today.
