ToneX + Amplitube sounds...off? Tips please!

Hey everyone! New to the community.

Got ToneX Max + Amplitube Max. Loving ALL of the options and things sound...good...but I feel can sound better. Would love help from the community.

My setup:

Guitar > Interface (Scarlett Solo 4th Gen) > Macbook Pro (brand new) > Studio Monitors (Yamaha HS5s). Playing at 64bits/44.1k.

I do not use this into a DAW or headphones right now. I play out of the studio monitors and prefer that for now.

Issues:

Thinks sound OK, but hi-gain amps feel really boomy/muddy. Some are also scratchy or "clipping" but no clipping is actually happening. It's not my guitars, not my studio monitors. Playing through NAM is amazing so I think it's something with my settings with gain or something with my interface for Amplitube + ToneX.

Anyone use Scarlett Solo 4 and had the same issues and fixed it? Would love any and all tips here to optimize the tones.

Thanks a ton in advance!

Hey everyone!

Been using NAM and T3000 and loving the sounds I’m getting out of it. Looking to expand into using plugins of user created presets of band/song tones.

With that said, I’m a bit confused by the ecosystem and what to buy. To be clear, I’m looking to simply plug into my interface, find some presets covering artists/songs/tones I like on ToneNet, and play along with tunes through studio speakers.

What would I need to purchase to do this? I see Amplitube, I see ToneX, I’m not quite sure if I need both or what? Which bundle would be best?

If anyone can help me out I’d appreciate it a ton! Thanks so much in advance.

Hey folks!

Posted a little bit ago as I had been working to get into using plugins in my studio setup.

Fast forward a bit, got myself a Scarlett Solo 4th gen, some Yamaha HS5s (recommended by Neural), and plug in trials. I ensured I set everything up on my end correctly and even went so far as to set up input gain/gain staging according to Ghost Note Audios directions. I'm pretty well dialed in here. The plugins sound great!

Having said this, I don't know if it's me or what, but I had been using the Gojira plugin and Petrucci plugin. Played around a bit, and found that I much preferred the tones I was getting from using Sparks AI tool than what I could dial in the plugin. I can get a REALLY close Scenes From a Memory rhythm tone using Spark (prompting "petrucci scenes from a memory rhythm tone") and it takes quite a bit to even get close in Neural. Tested this across multiple Gojira songs vs the plugin and was able to tweak super easily using the AI tool to get a pretty awesome EVH 5150 III. Given the realness I was expecting from the plugins I was taken aback a bit.

I'm getting older so maybe my ears are shot. 😂

I'm thinking of going all in on Bias X and getting the software. Anyone else experience the same?

Hey fellow Charvel Heads™️

Hoping someone can help. Looking to get back plate for my DK24 Plus. I specifically want the panels with the string holes. Cannot find these anywhere and Fender back plates are not a replacement due to the screw positioning. Tried reaching out to my Sweetwater rep and nada. Reverb nada. Ebay is a maybe.

Any advice?

Note: Yes, I’m a weirdo that wants a back panel and don’t like it exposed.

Hello fellow Neural Heads™️

Somewhat new to Neural. Started demo’ing early in April knowing that the birthday sale was coming. Anywho…

Think I’ve narrowed down getting Nolly to cover most tones though I slightly preferred the modern metal sounds of Gojira. TBD there.

Next up, I’d like to round out my heavier sounds with cleans/breakup. Absolutely loved the Morgan. Many thanks to finding Jack Gardiner specifically who helped me dial in some awesome things. The last few days though I’ve been putting in work with Plini and loving that too.

I know I know this is purely preferential and questions like these are common, but I’d love to get folks with long time use on both of these and their thoughts.

If helpful, love the sounds of Guthrie (think of his work with Steven Wilson), Eric Johnson, modern fusion, Aaron Marshall, Steven Wilson into a Bad Cat, Andy Timmons, sparkly emo (think American Football, Yvette Young, etc). Really love the tone on the song “Sandglass” by Jack Gardiner + Timmons

Note: Obviously doesn’t need to hit all of these tones, but whichever would compliment the tones created with Nolly would be excellent.

Any opinions would be great! If you have any other suggestions and why I would love to hear them! Please do not recommend Mayer, will be getting in Nov sale most likely.

Hi everyone!

Love my Spark 2 and the tones I’m getting but with all the neat plugins and tones out there would appreciate some advice ti set up correctly.

My setup consists of:

- Mac w/ Garageband

- Guitar

- Spark 2

I’m running usb-c to mac to use plugins currently with a completely clean amp setting on the Spark (no modelers/effects). The sound is quite bad and muddy doing it this way.

So my question is this: Would getting something like a Scarlett interface improve sound of plugins, and if so, how should I set this up for best 1:1 sound of plugin? Any other cables I would need for hookup?

For ref: I do plan to record in the future, but happy using the Spark 2 as strictly a speaker if needed. I also don’t plan to use headphones at the moment.

Any help would be super appreciated - thank you!

EDIT: Problem solved! Just bit the bullet, got some Adam T5Vs and a Scarlett. Pretty much night and day difference. Thanks everyone for the help though!
