I knew I needed one being a lifelong charvel guy and mutt builder. I think it’ll fit in nicely with the pack. I’m loving the pickups, tight and crisp.

Charvel inspired Warmoth build

I really liked the DK22 s/s/s but ultimately passed because I prefer a Floyd to the 510.
Spec’s out a Warmoth Soloist in Candy Red and a Strat neck in vintage tint with jumbo frets. I still need to order pots, switches and pickups. Going with DiMarzios.

Using DK24 as an example.

Pro Mod:

Mexican made, alder body, gotoh trem, $1200

Pro Mod Plus:

Indonesian made, basswood body, wilkinson trem, $1350

Am I missing something? Regulat pro mod looks better value all around

How should I clean the dust off my fretboard

Hi guys, I have a charvel DK24 HSS & it has a caramelized maple fretboard. How should I clean it?

Picked it up on Craigslist about 12 years ago for $300 with the matching case. The second and third pics are with my other MIJ Charvels. You can’t tell from the pictures, but the previous owner’s cat used it as a scratching post that’s through the clear coat unfortunately.

Just got my Model 7 back from the tech after many years of storage. As much as I enjoyed this guitar in my younger days it no longer fits my play style or personality. Is there much interest in those older Japanese models? Any idea what would be a fair sale price? Thanks in advance

Is this legit or a neck replacement?

The owner says it's a model 3 but I've never seen one with a strat headstock and this headstock looks too clean for a 40 years old instrument

I have a new DK24 Plus. It's pretty good, overall, but one issue I have is that the high E string keeps slipping off the edge really easily. My action is not that low and this doesn't happen with the non-plus model and other guitars (I keep action on same height on these as well.)

I look at the frets and they are more rounded on the edges, could this be the reason?

Or is it because the nut is not cut right? Is the slot for the high E cut too close to the edge?

I'm wondering if this is one-off issue on this specific guitar, or if they're all like this? Wondering if I should return and get another one. Otherwise, this is a fine guitar (although a bit expensive for the specs)

Any experience this issue?

edit: adding photo of the bridge.

Charvel MJ San Dimas Style 1 HSH FR M QM Caribbean Burst. Picked this up from Guitar Center's website, as used in great condition. I don't think it was ever played. Not a mark on it, and zero fret wear. For $1150, I'm pretty happy about the purchase. But, in typical Guitar Center manner; instead of shipping it in the Charvel Multi-Fit Foam Core Case, that the Japanese models have standard, some chuckle head worker grabbed a new Fender Deluxe molded case instead. So, free upgrade I guess.

Maybe this was a neck swap? Schaller floyd, single slanted pickup, reverse headstock. Somebody swapped in a Seymour Duncan pickup. Mostly stays in tune with trem use.

Pearl white is now piss yellow from smoke damage but it plays remarkably well so I don’t mind

Hi folks, I got a San Dimas SD2 with the Speed Neck a month or so back. I've literally only owned gibsons and ESP before this guitar so quite a different feel. I love it and the stock pickups are already really impressive - to the extent I have no idea what I'd swap them with! Granted this is a lower cost model (I actually don't want whammy bars and all that jazz so this is perfect and clean!), but the quality control at Charvel seems extremely bad though, I had to return two before being happy with this (big chunks out of necks, massive scratches and every guitar has come with all the screws and fittings extremely loose?)

But the neck I find weird. I think I might love it but theres one thing that is living rent free in my head - can people who know better help?

Q: Is it carved unevenly on the back of the neck? As in not just a uniform curve pretty much? Google is kind of forthcoming, but I'm still not sure. I ask as when I'm sighting along the profile of it, I find the optical illusion very hard to decide it's 'flat' like I would to set up my other guitars. Always seems to be curving up at the headstock but measurements are fair. I've set up guitars for about 20 years now so it's really throwing me visually! Maybe it's the fender style headstock too that I'm not used to?

The action seems fine though, it is set just below 1mm at the high E 15th and ringing pretty well across frets and pretty uniform in height variations, so I'd expect that's good action (and relief) for these guitars. The bottom strings I've left the saddles so they are a bit higher as it got fret buzz, but still a touch below 1.5mm, so pretty ok.

Other thing that's surprised me is that I get so much tiredness from this shape neck too, I find I'm cramping especially with chords after about an hour. The ESP LTD U shape is quite thin so I'm surprised by the cramp! Hopefully not too long to adjust to it...

Floyd rose VS Hard Trem. Gloss Vs Satin etc..

ESP: E-II Horizon NT-II or Jackson Soloist SL2MG

Hello all, lifelong classical guitarist trying to transition to Metal/rock. I want to buy a guitar in the 1-3k range, preferably with EMG pickups since i remember as a kid my first lessons my teacher had EMG pickups and he was awesome and love the tone. But, i'm open to ANY guitar on any budget as long as it looks good, feels good, and will make me wanna play it. I currently also have a mexican strat vintera 70's style.

Anyhow, currently i've narrowed my choices to these two guitars. I'm open to ibanez, prs, sheckter literally any brand but havent looked too into their guitars other than the c1 hellraiser.

I got to try the SL2mg yesterday and today (two diff guitar centers lol). While i'm loving the looks and sound, i'm not sure about the matte or satin finish. Dunno if i felt weird cuz i was playing at store or what but it wasn't a home run first playthrough experience like most my other guitars. I do know the fender glossy finishes i do like, would probably prefer to get a guitar like that.

Also bonus question, I'm very torn I think i want the floyd rose and learn how to use the system. I'm willing to learn all the complexities and what not. BUT i know that there's plenty of stuff i can work on until i really really need one and have the skills to use the whammy bar.

What i really really want tho is a electric guitar in lavender color with EMG's... Havent found one standard yet w/o going custom that i like. But really this queestion is

MATTE Finish + FR vs Glossy esp HT.

edit: New challenger, Charvel Custom Shop San Dimas HS FR - Lavender Ice

planning on selling a few things that will cover this guitar w/o having to use credit/financing.

Thanks in advance for any help.
