Trying to find a good balance between details and visible pixels...

I started modeling some assets for a future project in which the base textures are realistic textures, but filtered to be more solid and pixelated, with more neutral tones.

In addition, I used PBR maps (color+roughness+specular) to give more emphasis to each pixel.

Tiletrace - web puzzle

I made a fully web-based game with infinite levels, local save, a ranking system, and even enemies that will try to trap you on a colorful board.

The concept is pretty simple: you just need to collect points and try to surround your enemy using the board’s “geography” (which changes every level). The enemy will try to do the same to you, and it can even use different strategies if you replay the same level more than once. Every 10 levels, a new enemy appears (up to a maximum of 3 enemies at once, but they are also enemies to each other).

The music is dynamic as well, adapting to your current level, becoming faster and more intense as you progress.

I also added 5 collectibles:

  • Double points
  • Move forward 3 tiles without ending your turn
  • Ghost mode (you can pass through walls)
  • Extra life
  • All walls disappear

Your name + seed acts as a save system, so you can continue a level or come back later.

This is Tiletrace, and I built it over the course of a few weeks. You can play it directly in your browser (I just set up the domain recently).

Description:
Tiletrace is a fully web-based game featuring infinite levels, local save functionality, a ranking system, and dynamic enemy behavior. The core concept is simple yet strategic: you must collect points while trying to trap your enemies using the board’s evolving “geography,” which changes every level. Enemies actively attempt to surround you as well, and they can adapt their strategies if you replay the same level multiple times. Every 10 levels, a new enemy is introduced, with up to three enemies present at once — and they can also compete against each other.

The game also features dynamic music that scales with your progression, becoming faster and more intense at higher levels. To add more depth, there are five types of collectibles: double points, a 3-tile movement boost without ending your turn, ghost mode (allowing you to pass through walls), an extra life, and a power-up that removes all walls from the board. Additionally, your name and seed combination acts as a save system, allowing you to continue your progress later.
