Hiring Artist for Trading Card Game

Good morning,

I’m currently working on a trading card game that’s basketball related and in the realm of say about fantasy and science fiction for now. I scrolled through the homemadeTCG subreddit and came across one artist that ended up doing a sketch for me for about $15. Color and detail was about $80, in which I do hope to work with him more often, so I believe that’s about the ball park I’m wanting to work.

I have about five different types of cards, which are:

Player cards (Cards that showcase the player)

Gear cards (Cards that give additional stats for the players)

Arena cards (Showcasing the arena the specific team plays in)

Memorable moment cards (Big play moments that could turn the tide of a game)

Stamina cards (Resource cards that can range from all over! There’s 3 types, Guard, Forward and Center [The three positions of players], and I’d like to make multiple types of these just to add more flavor. It’d be a more detailed Player card I feel as it might showcase two players battling it out.)

I don’t have tons of money, but do want to have about like 10-15 cards made to showcase how a turn goes for my game so I can post the recorded video on KickStarter to eventually get crowdfunding going. So I’d be fine with sketches for now around that range, but open to all discussions even if you might want to consider keeping in touch for something later on as I have about 210 cards for my first batch.

DM’s are open and I can show any and everyone how the first sketch went!

Thanks!

Good morning Hokies!

I'm now 33 years old and just randomly had a memory pop up of performing in the Virginia Tech Honor band when I was in middle school and it has me wondering if there's somewhere to listen to some of the performances? I don't really care for the visual viewing, but would love to listen to them, especially from the year I had attended and performed at. Couldn't tell you what song it was or anything of the sort, but some of the tunes are still in my head.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I have had this idea since 2017 and since September of last year, I am finally making an attempt to create it. I have mentioned it to friends I’ve known for years but understand that some don’t understand it and some of course are just encouraging me to chase a dream, but I know actual criticism isn’t going to come from them. So with that, I’m officially posting the game I have had an idea on and listening.

I’d love to do all sports if possible, but basketball felt the simplest as I’m more familiar with it and it doesn’t have as many players at one time in play like that of football. My game is called Hoops of Hyperverse. I could be wrong here, but the hyperverse comes from multiple universes, and I want to have teams composed of players from all over, whether the fantasy world of mystic elves or galactic creatures from the outer worlds.

Within my first batch of cards, I am hoping to have 15 teams in the fantasy and science fiction realms, and each of those teams will have:

5 Player Cards (75 Players total)
1 Arena Card (15 Arenas total)
5 Gear Cards (75 pieces of Gear total)
1 Memorable Moment (15 Memorable Moments total)
(Stamina Cards will be included in every batch, and there will be 3 different types of them, but different art to add more "flavor".)

The intention is to then expand and grow the game with new realms like midevil (sp?), superheroes, animals and beasts, and others. And then from there, releasing more cards from already created Players and teams with new stats and abilities on Player Cards, new Gear, new Memorable Moments and more.

Below is just a quick write-up I did. When I ended up writing it up, my brain got to thinking on something and I’m curious if others might think the same. It’ll entail just kind of a general basis on what each card does, how the match goes with battle phases, how to score points/how to win. Please, let me know what you really think because I 100% need input. Being prior military and having a rough past, thick skin is what I have, and I also really would love for this project to be something!

Thank you for giving me your time and effort and please post any comment, questions or concerns!

Hoops of Hyperverse

A basketball trading card game where you, a Coach, have your players attack and defend against your opponent to see who can score the necessary points first or score the most within a certain amount of turns.

Types of cards:

Player cards - There are 3 different types of players, Guard (G), Forward (F), Center (C), each type of player specializing in something different. These player cards have multiple stats to attack and defend against opposing players, and they are:

Health: Causes fatigue [Knockout] when completely lost. Health depletes when players use their Attack Abilities to attack opposing players.

Attack Abilities: An attack that players use to help Knockout an opposing player.

Defensive Abilities: A defensive maneuver that helps decrease the damage against an Attack Ability on a Players Health. (If the Defensive Ability overcomes the opposing Attack Ability, possession is now with that Player to go on the attack.)

Offense: The amount of damage that the Attack Ability does.

Defense: The amount of defense that the Defensive Ability holds up against the Attack Ability.

Clutch: The stat that allows a Player to use a Memorable Moment for big plays.

1 Pointer: One of two opportunities to score points, using dice to determine whether the shot is successful or not for 1 point. (The Attack Ability has to be successful from the previous phase to attempt this.)

2 Pointer: One of two opportunities to score points, using dice to determine whether the shot is successful or not for 2 points. (The Attack Ability has to be successful from the previous phase to attempt this.)

Stamina Cards - These are resource cards for Players to be able to use their Abilities. Once an Ability is used, the Stamina Cards should be turned sideways showing it has been used. Once a Player is back on their Attack Ability, all Stamina Cards are turned upright to use again. If a Player is Knocked Out, all Stamina Cards attached to the Player are sent to the Graveyard.

Arena Cards - These are used to help increase the stats of the Players of the team of the Arena. Any Player from the same team as the Arena Card will get a slight boost, but a Player from the same direct team of that year will get the fullest boost (A 2017 Mystic Elves Player will get the full boost from a 2017 Whispering Woods Coliseum Arena Card, but a 2016 Mystic Elves Player will only get a slight boost from the 2017 Whispering Woods Coliseum Arena Card.) Arena Cards are one of the required cards to help create a big play (A Memorable Moment).

Gear Cards - These are used to help increase the stats of a single Player. Just like with Arena Cards, partial and full effects can happen if all the requirements are met. Gear Cards are one of the required cards to help create a big play (A Memorable Moment). Just like Stamina Cards, if a Player is Knocked Out, any Gear Cards attached to the Player are sent to the Graveyard.

Memorable Moments - These are big play moments to change the tide of the game. Each team has one Memorable Moment for every year. Specific Players with specific Gear in specific Arenas make for the biggest, guarantee of a play while having anything less still makes for the potential to make a play, just not as guaranteed.

How to win:

Players can score via with a 1 Pointer or 2 Pointer shot. This shot can only happen if the offensive Players Attack Ability defeats the defensive Players Defensive Ability. The type of shot should be determined at the start of the turn.

During this phase, the Coach rolls the dice to see if the shot is successful. A successful shot is rolling a dice lower than the 1 or 2 Pointer statistic on the Player Card.

The Coach who scores the most points within the agreed upon turns, scores the agreed upon points first or KnocksOut all the opposing Coaches Players wins. Another means to win is if one Coach cannot draw anymore cards, in which that Coach losses.

Good morning all,

I just finished my bachelors in logistics, which helped me obtain an associates in supply chain management. I am looking later down the road, with either a CPIM or possibly a bachelors in supply chain management. I've been in the field for a little over a decade, and don't want to do the format of schooling like I did for my bachelors in logistics. I was able to complete the classes at an accelerated rate (faster than the 7 weeks the class was in session) but had to wait until the session ended to move on to the next.

I don't want to do that again during possibly obtaining my bachelors in supply chain management, so just curious if anyone has any suggestions on places to attend that let me go at the rate I want. If I have to, I'll just make the decision to do the CPIM and then go for the bachelors, but with being able to possibly transfer credits over and only have a few classes for the bachelors for supply chain management, maybe I can knock that out pretty quick. Just looking for some suggestions.

Thanks!
