upwards 2026
I can't find like any info of past participants for the upwards 2026 summer camp at virginia tech for highschoolers. if anyone of yall went pls lmk how was it and was it worth it
Got (somewhat expectedly) denied for transfer this fall. I'm considering applying for a spring transfer, but have some questions.
So, the main reason I think I was not accepted was because of my course work (Mech Engineering student, but only started Engineering courses this spring semester). My first semester was a giant mess of classes that I mostly did not need to do. I do have a 4.0, and should maintain that up to end of this fall semester. (I'm considering going from 2 summer classes to 3 to have a stronger application for the spring).
If I get in for spring 2027, I want to know how hard it will be to find a job (preferably on campus) and housing. Also, for anyone here who did transfer in the spring, was it hard to make friends in the middle of the academic year? I have heard the beginning of fall is when everyone is making friends, so I am also concerned about that.
Dining Halls
Hey everyone, I am an incoming freshman at VT. I just wanted to know which dining halls offer the healthiest options at good quality. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
suite housing without being in a LLP?
i'm filling out my housing contract right now, and my roommate and i are hoping to stay in a suite next year. however, i’ve heard that students in a LLP get priority when it comes to selecting suites.
would it still be possible to be able to get a suite if i’m not in a LLP, or should i apply to one?

We're gonna have a very fun night at McClain's in Blacksburg! (that's the restaurant that's connected to the bowling alley/theater/arcade/bar in First & Main)

Is it worth it to take ALEKS again if I already passed?
I just finished my ALEKS exam, which I need for a few of my courses. I met the requirements for both of my courses, but I only got an 84. I know I could go back and probably do a lot better, but I currently have bigger fish to fry academically, and I can't really afford to sit through 3 hours of modules on things I most likely already know.
With all that being said, my main question is whether I'll be able to get a spot in my courses with my score, or if there is a priority for students with the highest ALEKS scores?
Failing CS Senior Seminar
I haven’t been responsible and paying attention to my senior seminar and realized I missed enough assignments to get below a 70/80 which I need for a pass. This one credit class would hold me back from graduating on time and it’s not available over the summer. Is there anything I can realistically do or am I SOL.
Can grad students get involved with labs at other departments?
Kind of a niche question but I’m an incoming grad student in math and would like to join a lab in engineering, physics, or chemistry to improve my applied math skills but unsure if this arrangement is possible.
