Ran from an Emission during main quest... And ran into a bug.
So I was returning to Noontide base after I finished quest on WTO, but Emission suddenly started while I was on my way. I decided to just hide at the base, but I didn't know there will be a cutscene.
So I got that broken... experience. I cut the video because orig lasted for 4 minutes (cut moments are punctuated by black screen for half a second). The soundtrack was like that in game.
Also my video editing software crashed while I was rendering that shit. Creepypasta material?
The reason is: ALL Terminid units (except Bile Titans, Chargers, and Impalers) are easily killed by light and medium armor penetration, basically being walking health pools (boriiing).
With AP4 on its shields, Hive Guards now bring variety to gameplay. You need to AIM for their weakspot or circle around to kill them. It's much more immersive and interesting than just taking a Coyoto and shooting into their bulletsponge AP3 shields for three seconds.
Besides, it's not like we have a War Strider situation here - their weakspots are easily accessible even when they take defensive pose, and UNARMORED (take increased damage even with light pen). Just shoot in their bottom center for half a second and they're gone. Or, as an alternative, use explosives! They'll die just as quick.
Again, it brings variety to chaff units that were all the same "take maxigun and shoot in general direction all will die".
The only gripe with that change that I find reasonable is the turrets. MG and Gatling Sentries really can't do shit against them. But you know what? I'd rather have AH change the way Sentries aim than roll back that cool update in Hive Guards' design.
