Moving from Logistics Ops/L&D to Corporate PM. Is PMP my best next step? (8 YOE, MBA, LSSGB)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking to pivot out of 24/7 field operations and into a structured Corporate Project Management or Continuous Improvement role.

I just watched a quick breakdown of the PMP, and I’m heavily leaning toward pursuing it, but I want a reality check from this community before I commit.

My Profile:

  • Current Role: Associate Logistics Trainer at a massive food delivery/logistics company in the UAE. I design and roll out end-to-end training and safety programs for a fleet of thousands of delivery riders.
  • Past Experience: 5 years in Core Operations, managing massive teams (150+ drivers, warehouse staff), driving KPIs, and RCA.
  • Education & Certs: I have an MBA in Operations Management, and I recently completed my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB).
  • Tools: Looker Studio, Minitab, Advanced Excel.

My Questions for the Community:

  1. The 36-Month Experience Requirement: I haven't held the official title of "Project Manager." However, I have led cross-functional initiatives (e.g., rolling out a new safety training matrix for 600+ blue-collar workers, deploying performance dashboards, and optimizing delivery routes). Will PMI accept this as valid project leadership experience if I frame it correctly using PMI terminology (Initiating, Planning, Executing, etc.)?

  2. The Career Pivot: For hiring managers here, will pairing an MBA, a Six Sigma Green Belt, and a PMP be enough to rebrand me from a "Logistics Field Guy" to a "Corporate PM / Process Expert"?

Any brutal honesty, application tips or career advice would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance! 🙏 🙏

Hey everyone,

I recently completed my Six Sigma Green Belt certification (through KPMG India) and I’m now looking to actually apply what I’ve learned in real-world projects.
I currently work as an ops trainer in one of the MNCs in the UAE, so I do have hands-on experience with process gaps, performance improvement and stakeholder coordination. I’m comfortable with the DMAIC approach, but most of my exposure so far has been internal rather than project-driven.
Now I’m trying to figure out the next step:

  • How do I get involved in real Six Sigma / process improvement projects?
  • Are there any open-source or volunteer platforms where I can contribute?
  • Should I be looking at freelancing, case competitions, or something else?

I’m open to helping out on projects- just to gain experience and learn how things are actually executed end-to-end.

Would really appreciate any guidance, resources, or even personal experiences on how you got started after your Green Belt.

Thanks in advance

Firstly, thank you in Advance.

As the title suspects-Yes, I wanna gift them a smart watch but confused. I live in the UAE and I have no idea how Indian market is for smart wearables.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Budget - 2k to 5k / watch

What I would require is the basic health monitor and a feature to check who's calling.

Again, thanks beautiful people. 🙏🏽
