Thoughts on the Bob Barker allegations of sexism and racism?

I will say that I am a little surprised when I think back to watching this show with my grandmother. One of the allegations is limiting Black contestants but I remember she used to love watching The Price Is Right because she felt they consistently had Black contestants

Happy to see Geoffrey Owens on the Pitt

You might reveal a few years back when a customer spotted him working in Trader Joe’s and put his photo on SM shaming him. It backfired and he seems to have gotten steady work since then

In the 90s, was it taboo or accepted with interracial couples back then?

For people who were around to see the episode “Guess Who’s Coming to Marry” when it first aired back in 1991, what was the real world reaction like?

In the episode, the family is visibly shocked when Janice introduces her fiancé, Frank, because he is white. It’s such a powerful moment because it showed that even a “progressive” family like the Banks had their own internal struggles with the idea.

Were some or most people closed minded to interracial couples back then? Was this episode considered controversial or groundbreaking for a sitcom in the early 90s, or was the public already starting to become more accepting?
