I’m a 3rd year psychology student in India and I’ve been seriously questioning what to do next. I went into this field with genuine interest but now that I’m closer to graduation, I feel a bit unsure about the reality of it all.
I want to hear from people who have actually studied or are currently studying psychology in India. What is it really like beyond the textbooks? What are the good parts and what are the not so good parts that no one really talks about?
I was planning to go for masters in clinical psychology but I keep hearing mixed things about how competitive and tough it is, how long the path is, and how the actual career opportunities look after that. I’d really like some honest insight on how difficult it actually is, both academically and mentally, and whether it feels worth it in the long run.
Also, does anyone regret choosing psychology? Or feel like they should have explored something else earlier?
I still have a few other fields in mind that I’m curious about, so I’m kind of at that point where I’m trying to decide whether to fully commit to this path or consider switching before it’s too late.
I’d really appreciate honest experiences, not sugarcoated ones. Whether you stayed in the field or left it, I want to hear how things turned out for you.
