Ready Jet Go! (2016-2019)
I loved PBS Kids when I was little and I still watched it even when I got older. I remember watching Dinosaur Train, Wild Kratts, Odd Squad, Nature Cat, etc but my favorite was Ready Jet Go! I was 11 when this show came out and I didn't expect to like it at first, but the characters were so endearing to me and the songs were well-made and very catchy. It also taught me a lot about space, stuff I didn't learn in school. This show was made by the same guy as Dinosaur Train (and Hey Arnold), yes I know….I like a lot of cartoons, for all ages, but somehow RJG became my favorite cartoon ever and it still is. It's so underrated, I wish it got more appreciation
Happy Mother’s Day from Ready Jet Go!
from the episode Jet Can't Sleep
Cause I am your mom and a mom is true
I'm always right there to comfort you
I'll sing a song, if you're green, or you're blue
Cause I am a mom, and that's what we do
Lord Hater in today's new episode of Chibiverse
Unlike many others I did not watch this movie when I was little, but it was on Netflix so I decided to watch it. I mean, it's okay but kinda mid, especially if you don't have nostalgia goggles on. The animation is decent, This Is My Idea is a banger, and Rogers carried the movie. But at times it felt boring, as there were a lot of useless scenes with the marketable animal sidekicks that could have been cut (why was there THREE of them?) and the core romance feels rather underdeveloped. Derek learns not to love Odette solely for her looks because…why? And Odette decides she loves Derek because…why?
What do you think?
I don't know how to describe it, but it was a very specific brand of feminism that people look down upon nowadays
Hello, I am not a storyboard artist or in the animation industry at all, but I am a big fan of the children's cartoon, Ready Jet Go, created by Craig Bartlett. There's not too much information about any behind the scenes stuff online, but I know that some parts of the show were produced in LA and others in Canada. In LA they would do the storyboards, and then production services would be handled by Kickstart Entertainment in Canada...where they would be storyboarded again? What? I don't get it. And then the animation, which was done in 3D CGI, would be sent to a vendor studio in India.
This was the case for the show's entire run, here are the credits for the episode "Tiny Blue Dot/Earth Camping"
I am not too familiar with the pipeline for 3D shows compared to 2D ones. Did they storyboard it again to make it more legible for the vendor studio doing the actual 3D animation? Or is it something else?
Some people say that the Cartoon Cartoons program will go on a hiatus after this since there's no more privatized videos on their playlist, but they keep saying to tune in every Monday for a new short. We still have a few shorts left. But I decided to rank the first 15 of them, best to worst.
- Buttons' Gamezone - Easily my favorite, it's a cartoon that remembers to actually be funny first and foremost, and to enjoy being a cartoon. All the drawings were so grotesque and insane. This is the one I want to see turn into a show the most, we need more artist-driven creativity like this.
- Duck - Although Buttons' Gamezone is my favorite, Duck is the best so far, since it is very dark and filled with gore. Remember kids, don't punch old people. I think this could legitimately be submitted to the Oscars for best animated short film.
- Accordions Geoffrey & Mary Melodica - A funny, charming, and creative short, I like how everyone speaks in musical instruments, and the claymation-like animation. I think this would work best as a series of shorts that play in between shows.
- I Love You, Jocelyn - a beautifully animated and drawn, culturally specific magical girl short, I loved it.
- Foools - This one is more for younger kids, but it's cute and cozy. The weird fake language they speak might be confusing for some people, but I think you can still understand the plot just by the visuals alone.
- A For Angel - The art style is very derivative but it does have a creative, interesting premise. This one I could see getting a Tumblr fandom.
- ISCREAM - I ended up quite liking how this was animated and drawn. Very much in the spirit of OK KO. But if this ended up becoming a show, it would have the most obnoxious fandom.
- Fruitstand at the End of the World - Not much to say about this one, the art was beautiful but it felt weirdly short; I don't think this would hold up as a full series, but maybe it could become a fancy prestige short film or something.
- Bird & Squirrel - a very typical "adventurous guy and nervous guy" buddy cartoon, but I could see younger kids liking these, especially since it is based on graphic novels. The art is decent but the animation could have been better.
- Greetings From Samson - I mean, it's okay, I guess. A few jokes did make me laugh, like this one gross close-up of Samson's face. I think it would be better if it had more jokes like that.
- Harmony in Despair - The actual short is fine, but Andrew Dickman's controversies slightly taint it for me. Just watch Wander Over Yonder instead, since this short is clearly copying WOY.
- Dang! It's Dracula - It felt longer than it actually was, and Dracula was more annoying than funny. It feels like it was tailor-made to gain a yaoi fandom.
- Hungy Ghost - I did not enjoy this one at all, it felt like a "le heckin doggo quirk chungus" type of millennial webcomic in cartoon form, if you know what I mean.
- Madison and Skyler - again, another "heckin doggo" quirk chungus millennial webcomic type of cartoon, that type of writing/humor really grates on me. At least this one had pretty good animation.
- Afternoon Super - This one wasn't for me. The art style is very ugly and the whole thing was just boring.
