Tempesti Hatch & Minerva pocket organiser
Previous post was lacking in content so here's a better one. First time making one of these, I made the pattern real quick in Leathercraft CAD and I'm quite happy with how this turned out. Would probably use a more rigid leather, maybe Buttero, for the interior next time around. As usual, really can't go wrong with hatch for an outer leather, it holds up to scratches like nothing else. First time using Tempesti's hatch as well, I would probably pick it over Walpier, it feels quite a bit nicer. I find that Walpier's hatch has an almost plastic-like feel to it, which is not an issue with this leather. I've got a bit of a thing for hatch leather, so I can say that Tempesti is definitely a good pick, especially for outers. I did make a hatch wallet on Tuesday out of Badalassi's Nofin Hatch, which was recently added to aleatherstore's collection, and I would say that out of the three regular hatches I've had, it definitely has the best feel to it. Still, my favourite hatch is Rocado's shell hatch, but that's not really a fair comparison. As soon as I can justify the extra cost, I'll buy some J&FJ Baker hatch as well, but it costs around three times as much as the Italian alternatives and almost as much as shell, so it's a tough price to swallow.
Regarding the wallet here, it's a really lovely design but I do feel the design is a wee bit stale, as it is so often seen made by other makers, but it is among the more elegant designs out there and I totally see why it's loved so much now that I've made one myself.
