I referred a Full Stack Developer who got hired, and at the time of referral the stated referral bonus was $750. My referral completed the required task, but instead of receiving the promised $750, I was paid only $100.

The explanation I received was:

“This referral was hired through our new pipeline before our automated vetting process was live. Because of that, the role title and payout have been updated to match the final hired role.

Good news: this pipeline is now fully automated. Going forward, all referrals in this pipeline will be trackable end-to-end including role, status, and payout directly from your dashboard. The referral amount will be populated with the bonus corresponding to the first job they get matched to once they sign the offer.”

I don’t think this is fair.

When I referred this candidate, the offer clearly showed a $750 referral bonus. Changing the payout after the fact and reducing it to $100 feels unfair. Referrals are not effortless. Finding qualified candidates, speaking with them, convincing them to apply, and guiding them through the process takes time and effort. If platforms can change referral payouts after the work is done, it damages trust and discourages people from bringing strong candidates in the future.

Has anyone else experienced referral payout changes like this with micro1? Were you able to resolve it?
