Just watched I See Turtles
Just finished it and, wow. I was looking at an older thread from 11 years ago on the episode, and no one was mentioning the reason I ran to this sub reddit in the first place.
Everyone was praising the episode for the character development, but am I the only one that was absolutely blown away by the social commentary they were making?
To be clear, I never watched the show when it first aired, but I started watching it a while back after a friend recommended it to my. So I can imagine it going WAY over the heads of children, but from the perspective of an 18 year old, I got MASSIVE Eyes Wide Shut and Epstein vibes. A secret society where everyone abused turtles in order to feel young again was crazy enough, but when Mordecai and CJ threatened to call the cops and the Youth Topia people said, "Go ahead, they're members too." I honestly gasped.
I think it's crazy how an episode for a show like this was able to attack elites in such a clever way. It's honestly crazy for me to think that someone might watch a cartoon as a kid and rewatch it to find CRAZY political commentary that may have even gone so far as to cover themes of pedophilia.
Anyone have any thoughts? Also, please refrain from spoiling anything beyond this point in the show as I'm still making my way through it. I just had to talk about this episode because it blew my minds.
