(S17) I don’t get it. I am so confused that I feel like I HAVE to buy the Layover for Taiwan.
(Watched the finale on my boyfriends laptop and he does not have Layover)
Absolutely peak performance from both of them in the first half of the season. Love Mike, love Sam, team Sike I was rooting for you since day 1 and I saw you were about to win based on the map, which granted them such a huge advantage I almost thought they had the game in the bag.
Then Episode 7 happened. The entire time I just could NOT understand what Sike is doing. Badam made a bad decision trying to break into Taipei through Keelung: they had to retreat all the way down south and effectively ceded a whole game day to Sike. So with the near perfect board, with Badam *out of the game* for nearly a whole day, what did Sike do to catch up on the station count?
Nothing. They were so scared that Badam were going up to Taipei that they startef “fortifying” on the local routes, which is pointless because that does NOT deter them from taking the express high speed train.
From here I was skeptical.
Then they decided to do a waiting game with Badam before proceeding with the game. Okay - I can see how Sike perceived their position as dominant, as they were indeed closer to getting to the 90 chip and 50 chip challenges before flipping up the east coast. So they could *afford* to wait - but that does not mean they *should*. This got me confused like Badam at the Dragon & Tiger Towers.
Then fast forward to Ep 8 they decided to pull a “big brain move” by going bust deep into the east coast line and betting everything on the challenge in Beipu.
I completely lost it. Why? WHY? Practically screaming at the TV, I could not fathom the decision. They had the challenges around them, the timing is right, their strategy would have been sound if they just did the obvious move. But deciding to flip only a few stations and going bust for the variable chip challenge is… I just don’t even know how that is preferable??
Are they rage baiting me into buying the additional Layover? I mean if they were then it’s unfortunately working.
