Jun Yuh give major grifter vibes

One of my friends been attending his webinars and events and I feel like he gives me major grifter vibes. Seems likes he’s trying to profit off the popularity of people wanting to quit their 9-5 and then to influencing. Previously he used to sell expensive e-books teaching people how to study, and was a study influencer.

If anyone has any tea on him lmk.

Hi guys, this job market has been rough and I’ve been applying for roles since September of last year. I’ve been getting interviews but only 2 of them were considered my dream companies which I only made it to middle rounds for.

For context, I’m 26F and currently work at a small marketing agency in NYC as a Marketing Associate but I do all the work of a Marketing Manager - launching monthly newsletters, email campaigns, etc. I’ve been applying for marketing jobs in house as I am tired of agency work.

The two jobs I got offered are a bit different. One is at a big American newspaper company similar size as The Financial Times as an Associate Marketing Manager and the pay will be about $110,000. The second offer is at a Y-Combinator startup that is only series A, and I’ll be their Founding Marketing Lead. The pay for the startup is also 10k more than The Financial Times. I was debating if anyone has any advice on which one to go for? Not sure if it looks better for me to work at an established company early on or to take a Marketing role where I’ll be taking on most of the ownership in my department. Eventually I do want to go back to grad school and study more technical and hopefully pivot eventually into a more technical role like solutions engineer, data engineer, or product manager role.

I’m the first in my family to go to college and work a corporate job so any advice is helpful. TIA!

I find Lisa’s pretty but her after work vlogs are not only repetitive but also very boring. She usually either just gets dinner with a friend or just goes home, takes a nap, and makes dinner. Also I noticed she often leaves work early between 3-5pm. Does anyone know if she’s mentioned what her corporate job is? It seems super chill and not very interactive with other co-workers or meeting heavy.

Is it ok to contact previous employees of a startup to ask their experience working there? The startup I’m interviewing for has no Glassdoor reviews and I’ll be joining as their head of marketing hire. For context, in the original company holiday photo they shared on their job listing I noticed they had about an even amount of women and men employees. But I noticed today that they have no women employees and I would be the only marketing and only women employee at the company if I joined. I was curious if I should reach out to the former employee who was the head of marketing hire previously at this startup to ask what her experience was like.
