Gradual vacuum decay?

I saw a post about vacuum decay and that made me think - does it have to happen instantaneously? Could there be a slow change from state A to state B? Constants and masses slowly shifting?

What theory do we have to modify for quantum gravity?

General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics don't play nice with one another, and we're going to need to do a major re-think of at least one of them. Do you think we'll need to modify GR, QM, or both? Major conceptual revisions, like the change from Newtonian to Einstenian gravity.

I realize no one knows the answer, but if you had to guess, what would you say?

Turkey’s most law-abiding citizen claiming his “Göz Hakkı”

In Turkey, there’s a social norm called “göz hakkı” — roughly, “the right of the onlooker.” If someone sees you eating or being offered food, it’s considered polite to offer them a small share. It’s not a legal right, just a cultural expectation tied to generosity and social harmony. People even say that if you don’t share, the “blessing” (bereket) of the food is lost.

Looks like this guy didn’t want the fishmonger to risk that — so he stepped in and took his share. A very polite heist.

Best slasher villain?

I grew up in the 1980s, the golden years of the slasher films. I can't say I've seen them all - there must be hundreds of slasher movies - but I've seen my share. My personal pick is Freddy Krueger - especially as he was in the first movie. He became too much of a slapstick character in later movies, but in the first few he's genuinely horrifying.

And the Freddy vs Jason movie was a lot better than than it had any right to be.
