Did anyone ever take fosfomycin powder? Did you get awful diarrhea from it? 😭

I'm sorry if this is TMI but I've been in UTI hell. After culturing it, they changed me from macrobid to fosfomycin to take as a one time thing. I took it yesterday and had the worst diarrhea of my life all night.

I called my Dr who blew me off saying it's because they gave me back to back antibiotics,& to just stay hydrated. It's scaring me though because we're not talking just a few times, it was literally all night long with stomach cramping. I understand all antibiotics can cause diarrhea but this is ridiculous. I'm already on Florastor but has anyone else delt with this too? 😭

For those who've had BV, were you ever given metronidazole gel to use twice a day for 3 days?

I have BV again (with yet another UTI). This time saw someone else since my concerns were being downplayed. I was given fosfomycin to take as a one time thing which is my first time doing the packet. However this time the Dr gave me metronidazole gel to take twice a day, once in the morning & once at night for 3 days.

The last time I had BV, they gave it to me to take once at night for 5 days. Was anyone else ever prescribed this regimen? I tried googling but it seems like a little out of the ordinary. I'll follow the directions but did anyone else try this? 🤔

Forgive me for posting so much but Im so upset, they gave me the wrong antibiotic for the UTI strain I have! Apparently I have Enterococcus faecalis & this antibiotic doesn't treat it.

Urgent Care called on Monday & said my UTI was caused by E-Coli and gave me Macrobid. It was then changed to Cefuroxime axetil. Well last night I noticed I wasn't feeling better but worse so I decided to peak again at my results from Quest Diagnostic. I then noticed it said my UTI bacteria strain in the culture was from Enterococcus faecalis NOT E-Coli. I then looked up Cefuroxime axetil & saw that it doesnt even treat Enterococcus faecalis!

I called my primary care doctor who told me to come in today & they said they would do another culture followed by an ultrasound to check my kidneys. I'm so frustrated & scared now. I've had a UTI that wasn't being treated for well over a week (probably 2 since it started days before Urgent Care) I also have BV but was not told to start treating it until the antibiotics were finished since they said BV would come right back while still on antibiotics.

I've never had Enterococcus faecalis before but it scares me. My mother passed away from kidney failure so I keep thinking, "What if this spreads to my kidneys?" I took matters into my own hands for now & this morning I took my Macrobid instead of the Cefuroxime (since everything keeps saying Cefuroxime won't treat this UTI) Again I know I've been posting a lot about UTI stuff so forgive me, I feel like most don't understand but at least the people in this group have been there before.

Has anyone else been dealing with Enterococcus faecalis? I know it's apparently hard to treat but I have a urologist in 2 weeks so I'm hoping they can help. I've been taking NAC for the past 2 weeks as well so I'm hoping this helps with Biofilms (if thats part of the problem)

This has been a complete nightmare. I was just diagnosed with ANOTHER UTI just recently, I'm starting to lose count at this point to be honest. I was already on Macrobid once a day to prevent them but nope- I got BV from it which turned into another UTI at the same time.

I was given Cefuroxime axetil this time since they said Macrobid clearly was doing nothing to prevent it. I reached out to my **** of a Gyno who said she "Exhausted" her options with me & said I should find a Urogynecology- which I did & have an appt in 2 weeks. I'm extremely frustrated with her because she did nothing but give me Macrobid. I literally begged her to test for Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma but she refused saying she knew that wasn't the problem. I tried my Primary Care Dr who said that a Gyno had to do it.

I'm looking for a new Gyno as well but they're so booked out, the next one is 4 months out so I'm hoping the Urogynecology Specialist will help & test but now I feel like I need to take matters into my own hands. My Husband is on board with wanting any test or treatment that will help but I feel like I'm in a Twilight Zone episode, the Primary Care Dr & my now Ex-Gyno said there was nothing they could test him for or treat him for. I know that's BS because I continuously see men who were treated for BV since their wives kept getting it. So we plan to go to Urgent Care who said they'd treat him for BV since I keep getting a diagnose of it.

Other than him getting treated for BV, does anyone else have any suggestions on what he can test for OR get treatment for? I know we still can't figure out why I keep getting a UTI everytime we have sex but UTI & BV are ruining my life & my mental health. I've been on antibiotics almost continuously since February! It's been between Macrobid, Keflex, and now Cefuroxime. Here's what I'm taking prevention/healing wise, Any advice at all is appreciated!

*We already have great hygiene, we shower before & after sex, I wipe front to back, I pee before & after sex, drink a ton of water, we used Good Clean Love Lubricant & lots of it.

*I take Florastor each day plus another vaginal probiotic. I also starting drinking Kefir since the antibiotics are killing my stomach & I'm terrified of getting C-Diff from everything.

*500 MG of D-Mannose

*600 MG of NAC - I heard this antioxidant can break up biofilms so I figured why not try?

*Boric Acid vaginal suppository before bed - they told me to wait to treat the BV until I finished the antibiotic since it will come back once I finish so Ive been using Boric Acid until then hoping for the best.

I wanted to post here too because I feel like I'm going crazy 😭.

It's been an emotional rollercoaster. I had numerous UTI's over a few months & after hefty doses of Keflex -my UTI's went away but BV developed along with a yeast infection.

I cleared both of them with the medication my gyno gave me & then 2 weeks ago at a follow-up she swabbed me & my results came back clean for everything. My husband & I resumed having sex a week after following her timeline of when I can start again. Well on Friday I felt burny & went to urgent care...I have BV again!

I don't understand what happened, I'm already on strong probiotics -Wish health Vaginal probiotics along with Florastor. I'm taking D-Mannose, we're both showering before and after sex, I'm peeing immediately after, etc.

The only thing I can think of is, because I kept getting so many UTI's my gyno gave me a low dose of Macrobid to take after sex. I expressed concern over if this would disrupt my good bacteria again but she insisted it wouldn't. Its just emotionally draining. Now after I finish this treatment again ..I know I'll get a yeast infection.

So does this mean every time I have sex going further I'm either getting BV or a UTI? I just wish I knew what to do. We weren't using condoms because we were trying for a baby but I asked if it's possible we could pass the BV (I just thought maybe I had given it to him during the last outbreak) and everyone said no. I'm desperate for any advice at all, I can't keep affording urgent care and my specialist to check this stuff every other week 😭
