So I have always wondered whether Goku actually somehow harnessed the power of the Great Ape here, or if it was saying Goku was now as strong as the Great Ape.
Part of me thinks it's supposed to be him harnessing the power of the Great Ape, but since he never does something like this again, I'm starting to think it's just supposed to show that Goku is now stronger than the Great Ape. It could also explain why his tail never grows back again afterward, because now his power has grown way past the Ape.
It's funny that even though it's long been outclassed by 4 and the God Forms, Super Saiyan 3 still feels so powerful.

One of the most heartbreaking moments I've read in comics (Iron Man #14 2006)
If Trunks was already a Super Saiyan 2, why didn't he just Kill the Androids, is he stupid?
He starts out fine in the Cell Saga, but after he goes into the Room of Spirit and Time, it's like he regressed to his early Saiyan Saga self.
I was rereading the manga, and I got to this part and started thinking: the rule is Shenron can't bring someone back a second time, but Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha were all brought back by Porunga. So he has never brought them back before. Shouldn't he be able to if they died, or is it anyone who was brought back once, no matter what dragon brought them back, or was Gohan just assuming?
