[WarCrown] Launch date updated: May 16 → May 17 at 18:00 UTC (Sunday) — explanation inside

Hey everyone,

Short and honest update: we're moving our launch date by one day, from May 16 to May 17.

We had May 16 as our target and were close, but after going through final checks we decided it was better to take an extra day and get it right rather than rush it. Nothing dramatic — just us being cautious about the launch experience.

🕐 Launch time: Sunday, May 17 · 18:00 UTC

  • 20:00 CEST (Paris, Berlin)
  • 19:00 BST (London)
  • 14:00 EDT (New York)
  • 11:00 PDT (Los Angeles)

Name Reservation on May 16 is unchanged. Log in, make your character and grab your name as planned.

Updated timeline:

  • May 15 → Name Reservation opens
  • May 17 · 18:00 UTC → Server goes live

Phase 1 on launch: Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, Eye of Eternity, Vault of Archavon, all heroics, DK starting zone, PvP Season 5.

Sorry for any inconvenience — one extra day of waiting, then we're off. See you Sunday! ⚔️

Hey everyone,

We've seen the concerns about the RAF system and wanted to address them directly.

What we're changing: The XP multiplier is gone. Full stop. We agree it made leveling unbalanced and that nobody should feel pressured to use RAF just to keep up.

What RAF gives you instead:

  • X-53 Touring Rocket — a two-seater mount, RAF-exclusive, never sold in the shop. One of the few two-seater mounts in the game.
  • 18-slot soulbound bags — useful during leveling, no power advantage, can't be sold or abused.

What about the Joyous Journeys 50% XP buff? That stays, but it's exclusive to PTR testers as a thank-you reward. It's not part of the live RAF system and won't affect general players.

Why a mount? RAF is about bringing a friend to the server. A mount you can only get by actually playing alongside someone felt like the right reward — fun, visible, and fair. It's not purchasable, not droppable, and not grindable. You get it by recruiting.

Hope this clears things up. Open to questions below. See you on the may 16th. 🙌

Hey everyone,

We want to clarify how leveling will feel at launch.

Alongside the x2 base rates, we’re adding a limited-time +50% XP buff for all players.

⚡ Details Base rate: x2 With buff: x3 effective XP With RAF: up to ~x9 XP

Duration: 14 days from launch

🎯 Why we’re doing this Makes early leveling faster and smoother Helps players with limited time Encourages playing together (RAF) Keeps long-term progression intact after the boost ends

This is a temporary launch event — after it ends, the server continues with standard x2 progression.

See you in Northrend.

Hey everyone,

We want to share the final decision regarding XP rates ahead of launch.

Over the past days, we ran a community poll and gathered feedback through discussions to determine the most suitable leveling pace for the server.

📊 Poll Result

The majority of votes supported x2 XP rates, making it the clear preferred option.

⚙️ Final Decision

Based on the poll results and internal review:

WarCrown will launch with x2 XP rates.

🧭 Why x2

We believe x2 provides a balanced experience:

  • Closer to original Wrath progression pacing
  • More accessible for players with limited time
  • Maintains meaningful leveling and world interaction
  • Avoids overly fast or rushed progression

It also works well alongside existing systems that can influence leveling speed (such as RAF and other bonuses), keeping the overall experience balanced.

🎯 Consistency

To keep the experience clear and structured:

  • We will not offer selectable XP multipliers
  • The server will use a single, unified progression rate

This helps maintain a consistent experience for all players from launch.

🔄 Next Steps

With XP rates now finalized, we are focusing on:

  • Final progression roadmap details
  • Stability and polish before launch
  • Continued PTR testing and fixes

Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll and shared feedback.

See you in Northrend.

Hey everyone,

We’ve seen some confusion regarding how progression and raid release will work, so we want to clearly align expectations before launch.

For full project context and design philosophy, you can refer to our official page:
https://warcrown.org/about

🚀 Launch Details

  • Launch Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026
  • Launch Time: 20:00 UTC
  • Expansion: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
  • Type: Fresh Start (modern client)

📊 XP Rates

At this stage, final XP rates are not yet locked.

We are currently reviewing internal testing results, team feedback, and community input (including polls) before making a final decision.

The final rate will be announced prior to launch.

🧭 Progression Model (Important clarification)

To clarify the core misunderstanding:

WarCrown uses a progressive raid release system, not full instant access.

As described in our project design:

  • The server opens with Tier 7 content (Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctum, Vault of Archavon)
  • Progression continues through a scheduled tier system, where major raids unlock over time
  • Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, Icecrown Citadel, and Ruby Sanctum are released tier-by-tier on a planned schedule

This is intentional and part of the core design of the realm.

The goal is:

  • Recreate the original Wrath progression experience
  • Ensure players progress together instead of skipping ahead
  • Maintain long-term stability of economy and gearing
  • Keep each tier meaningful at the time it releases

🛠️ Design Philosophy

WarCrown is built around a few core principles:

  • No pay-to-win systems
  • Modern client with Wrath gameplay
  • Structured progression (not full unlock at launch)
  • Long-term server stability over short-term rush
  • Cosmetic-only shop (no competitive advantage)

🎯 Final clarification

The progression system is not “everything open at launch” — it is a controlled, scheduled Wrath progression experience, as outlined in our project design.

We’re sharing this now to ensure everyone has the correct expectations before launch.

We’re gathering feedback on preferred leveling pace for a fresh Wrath of the Lich King server with modern systems like RAF and other XP bonuses already in place.

This is not a final decision poll — just community sentiment to understand preferences across different playstyles.

Hey all,

If you've been running into one of these recently:

The game crashing on launch with an ACCESS_VIOLATION window A cdn hosts exhausted error The launcher or login screen sitting frozen for several minutes before anything happens — it's all the same underlying issue, and it's now fixed.

The short version: a third-party CDN our 3.4.4 client used to fetch game data from went offline, so the client was burning time retrying dead servers before either crashing or giving up. We've moved that data onto infrastructure we control, and pushed a client patch that handles missing files gracefully instead of dying on shutdown.

What you need to do

If you already have the client installed:

Open the launcher. Go to the Settings tab and click Verify Integrity of the Game Files. The launcher will detect the outdated binary and pull the patched version. Then launch and play. Fresh installs from the launcher already include the fix — no extra step.

If something still doesn't work

Hop on our Discord (https://discord.gg/Xq74PhTdGu), open a ticket in #support, and ping a Developer. Attach the crash log from <install>/Errors/*.txt — the most recent one. The first few lines tell us exactly what failed and most things from this point should be quick fixes.

Thanks for sticking with us through the rough patch.

Hey everyone,

With launch coming up on May 16, we've published a complete features page covering everything WarCrown offers in one place.

It's intended as a clear, single reference for anyone trying to understand what kind of server WarCrown is — server details, modern client features that come with WotLK Classic 3.4.x, our QoL additions, what stays blizzlike, and what's planned post-launch.

  • Modern client features (Collections, Titan Rune dungeons, RDF, dual spec, etc.)
  • QoL additions and our approach to balance
  • Development philosophy and donation policy
  • Post-launch roadmap direction

Read it here: https://warcrown.org/about

Happy to answer questions in the comments — about scripting, server setup, what's in for launch vs. post-launch, donation policy, anything else.

See you on May 16.
