History through fiction: the Middle Ages

Hey, not long ago I posted a few timelines on the best historical fiction novels on Rome. Well I just did the same for the Middle Ages, and I thought this might interest you. I also added national epics cause they can be quite good. Honestly, the amount of books written around Richard Lionheart is baffling.

History through fiction: making timelines out of historical novels

Hey I don't know if anyone's ever considered this, but I thought it would be interesting to compose timelines using historical fiction, so that if you want to learn history, you have a sort of guide on what are the best fictional books covering each era. So far I've done a fair bit, and there really has been so much written you can cover all of history through fiction. Here are some of the timelines below for Rome (Republic and Empire) tell me if I missed anything. I also sometimes write articles about these if anyone's interested, but I just thought this was a good idea.

[Complete] [170k] [Knightly fantasy / whimsical] The Pineapple Knight

Hello everyone, I've just joined because I am in search of beta-readers for my latest release: the Pineapple Knight.

The tale takes place in the lands of Speros, a grounded fantasy setting of both beasts and chivalry. As has occurred many times before, a lord, Retemar, wishes to marry off his daughter. Yet, he being a rather eccentric and capricious lord, he does not do so without a few challenges. However, the result is not as expected, and so Retemar challenges the victor with an impossible quest, so that he may gain time and find some way out of this mess he made. The tale thus follows this victor, Belisar, as he attempts to achieve this impossible quests and journeys across whimsical and intriguing lands in order to gain the hand of Retemar's daughter.

If you wish for an excerpt, check out the short story 'Of Pig Races and Hungry Wolves' I published with M'lord Magazine, which is one of the early chapters of this book. For those who enjoy history, classical fantasy, and everything valiant knights and chivalry, this may prove a very good read. I have already self-published three books, meaning this is a rich universe of lore and depth, although you need not have read the previous books to read this one. As the title suggests, its tone begins as more of a whimsical and humorous work before evolving into something more serious, with perilous odds and unexpected challenges. The book is quite long, I am aware, and I am open to splitting it in two. That would be one main of the points of feedback I'm eager to hear about.

If you wish for further information as to who I am as an author and what I write, to decide whether or not to give this a shot, you can check out my author platform: laszlodbz.wixsite.com/author. I'm open to any questions.

Thanks!

EDIT: If interested, do not directly email me, I would rather you comment here first to show your interest.
