Salon upkeep too much rn, how to touch up and maintain ginger?
Hi there, so I went to the salon a few times to go red and it was a process each time. The lady I saw decided to start charging more and it's just too much for me right now.
Story is: went to another person first who did not get me to a lightened place like I wanted, so I had dark cherry cola red with hot roots. Never again.
Went to the new lady and she fixed it, looked gorgeous (last pic with the green shirt), but I went on vacation and I think the intense sun sped up the wash out/fade process. I had orange/gold roots, RED right after that, then brown with a hint of copper for the mids and ends. Looked crazy.
She decided we needed to bleach out the prev. red hot roots otherwise nothing would cut through (Pic 2 fresh). Unfortunately the bleach stripe is pretty obvious to me but whatever. Until she charged me for that visit, I didn't care if it was a process to get where I wanted.
Well, now my virgin hair is peeking out again and I hate it bc it looks grey/green compared to the red (Pic 1 with the sections drawn). I don't necessarily want to go any lighter (though that was the ultimate goal with the professional originally), right now I just want to root touch up and make sure everything is pretty even.
How do I accomplish, in simple terms, touching up roots and then matching everything? I have only used a box dye in high school many moons ago and semi permanent on virgin hair during covid lol, and now I've been using keracolor conditioner to keep the red a bit more vibrant. Natural hair is like dark dishwater blonde.
Thank you!! I just want to be ginger and happy 😣
