Hi, I’m brand new to making music. Like, less than a week into promoting myself. I just had a label reach out and set up a meeting with me this Friday about a possible release. I am not signed. They asked me to include a private streaming link to the song that we could listen to in the meeting. What I am desperate to know is: does this mean I need to make the existing track private for now? I paid for a one week promo campaign that I can’t cancel, and the song was doing good and making me some money and connections in less than 24 hours. So, I’d like to keep it up if I can, but I don’t know what the standard/etiquette is and I just want to make sure I’m being respectful and playing by the rules. I have no idea what I’m doing. Thank you!

I have a meeting on Friday for a possible release and they asked me to send a private streaming link to listen to in the meeting. My question is: does that mean I need to make the original track private? It’s blowing up and earning me money and I’d love for it to keep doing that until I’m signed anywhere, especially since I have a paid temporary promo for it that I can’t cancel, but I’ve heard that it’s advisable to stop spreading it so that the label can say they discovered it. I’m so new to all of this and I know nothing. This was all kind of an accident. I don’t want to fumble a release and want to be respectful, I just don’t know the etiquette.
