Any Chicago bakers interested in a summer cake walk?

I have a space and I love baking, I want to partner with some Chicago bakers to help organize a Cake Walk. Bring 1-2 cakes to be able to get cake from other folks at the event. Closed and organized space with lines and staff to ensure no mess. This event will lost likely be free with cake donation or at least a $20 charge to pay for staff/organizers.

Would anyone be interested?

You can now post images and gifs in this sub

We are allowing the posting of pictures and gifs in this sub. We decided it would benefit our community if listings had images to help both users and potential renters.

If you see any AI images, please report it ASAP. This sub has no space for AI and we understand how it harms the market.

NEW RULES IN r/chicagoapartments !

Hello everyone! I am one of your new mods, and I wanted to kick off this week with some new rules for this sub.

We have seen a huge influx of people joining in the past year. This subreddit has gotten a bit crowded with unanswered posts, hard-to-find information, and more. We decided to take action to improve this community.

New changes:

  • You can now upload images and videos of the rentals/leasings you are posting about. We realized we are doing this community a disservice by not allowing people to post accurate photos.
  • New flairs! You can now give yourself a different flair or a custom one!
  • New rule: Don't fearmonger about the city, and Be Nice
    • A lot of catty behavior lately. If you see anything, report it. Now we have two rules to support it!
  • New rule: To reduce the number of unanswered posts, we are implementing a rule requiring as much information as possible so others can assist.
    • If you are posting about a sublease available, please make sure this information is in your post:
      • Listing must contain:
      • Pictures (if applicable)
      • Move-in date (when does the lease end/begin)
      • Price (per month, indicate if rent will be increased)
      • Location (neighborhood or suburb)
      • SQ (how big the apartment is)
      • Bed/Bath (How many beds and baths)
      • Any other amenities (is there in-unit laundry, central air, gym in building, pets allowed, no smoking, etc)
    • If you are posting about a listing availability, please make sure this information is in your post:
      • Pictures (if applicable)
      • Move-in date
      • Price (per month or buying rate)
      • Location (neighborhood or suburb)
      • SQ (how big the apartment is)
      • Bed/Bath (How many beds and baths)
      • Any other amenities (is there in-unit laundry, central air, gym in building, pets allowed, no smoking, etc)
    • If you are looking for an apartment, room, etc, please make sure this information is in your post:
      • Move in range (May move in, short-term rental from X to Y, flexible move in, etc)
      • Price (per month or buying rate)
      • Location (neighborhood, suburb, or direction NW, S, Over east, etc)
      • SQ (how big the apartment is)
      • Bed/Bath (How many beds and baths)
      • Pets
      • Any other amenities you are looking for (is there in-unit laundry, central air, gym in building, etc.)

Things we are working on:

  • Community guides with rental company information, who to avoid, who is good, etc.
  • Landlord horror story masterthread
  • Quick links, who to call if x, y or z happens, etc.

We are very open to community suggestions. If you think we should implement/add any rules. Please let us know!

Have a great week Chicago!

14 Parish - Hyde Park

Yeah seriously some of the best jerk chicken I have ever had. I got the platter with all the apps and the jerk chicken fried rice and I am telling you, that rice was crazy good. Just too many radishes, will def tell them to ease off next time.

You are stupid as hell if you are speeding on LSD during this storm

Just crawled my way home from the other side of the city going a good 30 in this storm. The left lane completely unusable since its flooded but people think they can go 60 on it and splash water and spin out of control and harm other drivers because they think where they need to go is so much more important than causing a pile up on LSD. Seriously, do people not know how to drive in storms anymore?
