Giardinera is an incredible addition to a sandwich and is fantastic on pizza. But what restaurants are using giardinera in other ways?

Three places I have found Soft Serve Margaritas in Chicago

I have not tried any of them, will probably do so in the next few weeks.

First image is from Casa Tulum in the South Loop

Second image is from Panchos Rooftop in the Loop

Third image is from La Mejikana in Pilsen

Let me know if you have tried any of these!

Cindy's Rooftop's inexplicable popularity.

My date wanted to go because she heard it had an amazing view. Which it does. But I don't understand literally anything else about this place. The menu is a total hodgepodge. There's one pasta, a couple salads, some oysters and just a bunch of other stuff that doesn't go together. It feels like they just threw a bunch of shit at the walls and called it a menu. We settled on a rainbow trout which ended up being a plain, unseasoned filet on a bed of creamy cannellini beans which were also unseasoned. And a really boring brick chicken that was similarly under-seasoned. Honestly, the best thing we ate was some fries we got because none of the other sides sounded good. But it was priced like they had all the Michelin stars. The fish was $38 and chicken was $44. Despite all that, it was really hard to get a reservation and the place was packed. I just don't get it. Like, at all.

What are some MUST TRY pescatarian friendly restaurants to celebrate a birthday at?

I’m looking to celebrate my birthday in early May. I’m pescatarian and am curious what places you’ve tried that you ALWAYS recommend to others?

Can be a fancier place, casual, just something that is going to have the wow factor and make it unforgettable.

Thanks in advance!

Fine Dining Recommendation for 2 in the City

Hello! My friend and I are looking for a fine dining recommendation in Chicago. I will be moving there soon and am unfamiliar with the fine dining scene. Some places we loved were Aquavit and Le Bernardin in NYC. Right now Valhalla is catching my eye; would this be a good choice or another spot? Looking to keep it <300 each, we won't be doing a beverage pairing. Closer to the loop preferred, thank you all so much!

Novel Pizza - Pepperoni Pizza (slice)

Have heard a lot about this place and wondered if the hype would live up, and to me it did. Sure it’s a bit pricier ($9 for this 1/4 of a 16in) but to me it was worth every cent.

Food before river boat tour

First time coming to Chicago and I’m taking my work group on a river boat architecture tour. We have about an hour to eat and/or grab food for the tour. Any recommendations for a uniquely Chicago food experience before the tour?

Went to Virtue for the first time

Absolutely loved it! Service 🙌 I purposefully didn’t eat anything after my early breakfast so I had an appetite for a 4pm dinner reservation (that’s all I could get). We ate family style and shared everything (fried green tomatoes, blackened catfish, short ribs, cornbread, collard greens, carrot cake). I was so full after my first serving but I was not going to leave any food uneaten! I cannot wait to go back! (Side note: I have been a Top Chef fan since season 1 premiered so I was excited to see Damarr from season 19 at the restaurant!)

Chicago restaurants owned by sports stars

I’ve just been thinking about all the restaurants here opened by Chicago sports stars and adjacent figures. The three I’m thinking of are Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse, and Ditka’s Restaurants. I’m sure there are others I’m missing, and others that have closed too. Which is/was the best?

Best Caesar Salad or Caesar wrap in Chicago?

Anyone have recs for a good Caesar salad or Caesar wrap around Chicago? Something with homemade croutons / dressing or something a bit more special than bagged Caesar kits from the store. Some of my favorites are Armitage Alehouse smoked trout Caesar salad, Domas wrap, and little victories ofc but any others people love?
