Shedding Shiba shuns sustenance

Our shibe is a fussy eater in the best of times. During shedding season, she shuns her regular food (canned Nutro Hearty Stew). In past shedding seasons, she’s gotten so malnourished that she’s gotten sick. This year, as soon as she started dandelion-ing, we began feeding her human food (like scrambled eggs). We’ll keep doing that until shedding is over.

What are your tricks for keeping your Shiba healthy during shedding time?

Fun & Free: Shakespeare at Kemper this weekend!

Wildwood Theatre Company is putting on an outdoor performance of As You Like It at Kemper this weekend! Tickets are free, donations encouraged, delicious cookies for sale.

We went tonight and it was good! The audience follows the actors around. Lots of fun. Dress warmly, we almost froze to death. (It’s always cooler by the lake, amirite.)

Shows are 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

Hey Wisconsin friends: I live in Kenosha. I love camping and nature, but I’ve barely been outside in the past month because I’ve been working a ton. My only time outside in the past month has been to walk the dogs along the lakefront.

Today when I was putting my hair up, I found this tick on my neck. Ugh. Gross. Creepy. Ugh.

I share this as a reminder to us all: check yourself for ticks if you go outside. Check your dogs. Use the anti-tick treatments on your dogs. Check your kids.

Ticks! Ugh. Disgusting and dangerous.

I’ve been LC with my parents for a while because of my dad’s passionate support of the racist orange idiot. I went NC after our oldest son died of cancer. (My parents and sister didn’t see him during his treatments because they’re anti-vax and he was ya know getting cancer treatments; they saw him on his deathbed because at that point, a virus could not have hurt him. See my profile for the ugly story.)

Like many of the posters here, I miss having these people in my life. Or rather, I am sad that I never got to have a mom and dad and sister who were reasonable and intelligent and well informed.

Occasionally I check my dad’s Facebook page just to confirm that NC is the right choice. This image from his page shows it still is.

But this makes me so sad. I so much wish I had the kind of parents other people get — supportive, thoughtful, generous. I got these idiots that I’ve had to get rid of. Every day it grieves me.
