How does a 6-day work week affect productivity/performance compared to a 5 or 4-day work week in different jobs like programming, retail, etc? Does it increase because of task switching cost reduction and people not thinking about weekend plans?

how is an increase in consumption as a results of more free time and higher wages, and unemployment decline along with the increase of labor costs that might result out of unemployment decline and reducing maximum full time hours, and prices related at the short and long run? I mean this is something that deeply puzzles me can't we significantly reduce full time working hours and unemployment without a trade off in the cost of living?
