I’m based in Boca, but after today, I’m honestly considering making the drive up to WPB just to find a normal, welcoming environment.
I went into a local shop on Palmetto (The Seed) for the first time just trying to be a social, friendly guy. I literally just said hello to try and strike up a polite, neighborly conversation. The staff ended up completely verbally abusing me for it. It was incredibly jarring and honestly left me feeling pretty defeated.
I made a quick video on my Instagram explaining exactly how the interaction went down and showing the cards I was dealt, because I think people should be warned:

Is the social scene or coffee culture in West Palm more down-to-earth? I’d much rather spend my time and money somewhere that doesn't treat "being a nice neighbor" as a crime. Where do you guys go where the vibe is actually chill and people aren't offended by a "hello"?

I’m based in Boca, but after what happened some days ago, I think I’m done with the local spots here. I went into The Seed on Palmetto for the first time just trying to be a friendly guy—literally just said hello and tried to strike up some normal, polite conversation. I got completely verbally abused by the staff just for being social.
It feels like the 'Boca attitude' is hitting a breaking point. I made a quick video on my Instagram showing exactly what happened because it honestly left me pretty shaken up:

Is the vibe in Delray actually better/more welcoming? I’d rather drive the extra 15 minutes to Atlantic Ave or somewhere nearby if it means I can actually say hello to people without getting yelled at. Where do you guys recommend for someone who just wants a chill, friendly spot?

Just wanted to put out a warning for anyone in the county who heads down to Boca for coffee. I tried The Seed on W. Palmetto for the first time some days ago. I was just trying to be a friendly person and strike up a normal conversation, and I ended up getting verbally abused by the staff. I’m honestly shocked. I made a quick video on my Instagram explaining the situation because it was that bad:

Is this the new norm for Palm Beach County service, or did I just find the wrong spot?

I’ve lived here a while, and I’m used to the occasional humidity-induced grumpiness, but what happened to me at a coffee shop in Boca today was next level.
I went into The Seed on Palmetto for the first time just trying to be a friendly guy—literally just said hello and tried to strike up some normal, polite conversation. I wasn't being weird, I was just being social. The staff ended up completely verbally abusing me for it.
It feels like since the pandemic, the "third place" culture in South Florida has become so elitist and toxic. Since when is it a crime to be a friendly neighbor? I made a quick video on my Instagram showing exactly how the interaction went down because it honestly left me pretty shaken up:

Has anyone else noticed this shift? Do you have any recommendations for spots in Palm Beach County where the vibe is actually welcoming and people aren't offended by a "hello"?
