My parents rejected a match after meeting the girl’s family because they felt her father looked like an alcoholic. There was no concrete proof or behavior during the meeting—just a perception based on appearance.

Their reasoning was based on things like bloodshot eyes, shoulder-length hair , a bit of tremors, and a pot belly. There wasn’t any clear behavior (like drinking during the meeting or anything inappropriate), just how he appeared and the overall impression.

I told them I will be marrying her, not her father. But they’re quite convinced and don’t want to proceed. they are like her family will be your family...and that children raised in alcoholic families have issues if any drunken violence was involved... But how are they sure he is an alcoholic, many other health issues can cause such a an appearance.

Drinking alcohol is kind of a taboo in my family

The girl seemed nice, well-spoken, and honestly I found her cute and I liked her too.

I feel a bit sad , she seemed like a nice girl and seemed to be interested in me too.

Kind of feeling guilty.
