Some info about this 1987 Silver dollar? (Worth, any cool facts etc)

Hello, I got this from my grandfather when I was younger. He always had silver dollars, and I thought they were so cool! He ended up giving me this before he passed and I’ve kept it safe ever since. I’m wondering if there’s anything to note about it or its worth, because if it’s something huge I’d like to display it. If it’s no big deal, I’ll still hold onto it and keep it safe like I’ve been doing all this time.

If a host doesn’t list an amenity, even if it is included, they don’t need to provide it [Florida]

I’m posting this after a very frustrating experience in Florida. I dealt with a lot of issues from these hosts, so I did end up getting a small refund from Airbnb thankfully. This is a forewarning to both hosts and guests. The listing did not include hot water in the amenities. I read several posts where hosts forget to include it, since it is legally required in most states and is usually a given.

I reached out to make sure there was hot water before booking. They told me yes. The hot water heater for the unit was broken when I moved in despite them telling me that hot water is provided. I reached out to let them know, and it took three weeks for me to be given hot water. They installed a 60 amp heater on a 30 amp breaker, so it would short out and be ice cold within seconds. It took them three weeks of me asking them to come, them saying “next week”, and no one came for 19 days.

I sought a partial refund because again, I checked with the host before booking. I was told it was provided. It’s a pretty basic need. It also shouldnt take three entire weeks to fix it. Airbnb never offered a way for me to leave and I couldn’t afford after dropping $10k on that place to immediately move elsewhere. Airbnb informed me that because it was not advertised in the listing, it was not considered an added amenity, and they didn’t need to provide it regardless of them stating they did. I can’t get a partial refund from over ten thousand dollars with no hot water because it just wasn’t listed in the listing. Apparently, if you ever run into this, tell the host to add hot water on the listing before you book. Otherwise they can just not provide what you’re asking and you won’t be protected.

Partners mom marked him as dependent on her tax return which is not accurate, is there any issues that can come from this?

Hello, I’m hoping to get some advice to relay to my partner. He moved out last year and got a really good paying job last summer, in another state. As soon as he moved out, his mom rented his room, to the point he hadn’t even finished packing before she rented it out. This is relevant because she has made decisions in the past to show she does care about money a lot, and has done things to hurt him in that way quite a bit. There’s many other stories with this, but I digress.

My boyfriend submitted his tax return and just got it rejected, and the reasoning was he was marked as a dependent. His mom had done it despite him falling under none of the terms. He isn’t under 19, he isn’t a student, he made more than the allotted amount, and he hasn’t lived with her for most of the year. Even when he did, he paid a lot of the bills and utilities because she didn’t want to.

What is the worst possible outcome from this and what should he do? He trusts his mom still, and marked himself as able to be a dependent on someone else’s return. Is this going to give her any portion of his refund? He doesn’t want her to get any of it, and seems to be positive she wouldn’t do anything to get money from his return. I’ve looked up answers on Reddit already and have only seen people saying “yes you can be a dependent” or not, I already know legally he shouldn’t have been marked as one. I need to know if she can get any monetary value that will hurt his return, as he’s worked very hard and doesn’t want that to happen.

Hello! I just got a phone call yesterday that I’d be receiving court papers for an unpaid loan that I had over 3 years ago. I lived in Michigan when I got it, and have since moved to Florida. I’ve only been in Florida for a short time, so I haven’t gotten citizenship here yet or anything.

This loan tried to charge me over 700% interest when I had agreed to it. I quit paying because obviously thats insane. They charged me $75 a week. I was a kid, just turned 20, and didnt understand the repercussions of loans. I completely forgot about that loan until yesterday, when I received the phone call.

They’re delivering papers to my family home across the country. They are trying to bring me to court. I obviously can’t make it to court in Michigan after just moving to Florida. I don’t want to be arrested for not being able to show up, and I also don’t want them to be able to win this case when 700% interest is illegal in literally every state, especially Michigan. I cannot afford a lawyer, as again I literally just moved and need all the money I have to finish my move. I could use advice going forward.

I’m making this post for anyone who happens to be in my exact scenario, or even are house sitting and want to have better internet for a while. Currently at an Airbnb for a long term stay, six months. I have a deal with Xfinity for a pretty cheap 1gbps, and the internet at the Airbnb is 1/5 of that. I’m paying for the internet in my Airbnb price, it’s included as a separate charge, and am going to continue to do so since this place is super cute and cheap for what it is. I asked my host permission initially to run my router alongside hers, but discovered there’s only one coaxial cable! I panicked a little and posted asking if I unplug her modem, if somehow it’d cancel out her internet or credentials after I leave since it’d be an entire six months.

The answer is no, absolutely no repercussions happen and you can install two modems/routers side by side. When you set up a new service or move your service, Xfinity will tell you if there’s an existing plan at that address and ask if you’d like to cancel that or have both running. You can also unplug the one currently plugged in and plug in yours temporarily. None of this will do anything to your roommates, family’s, or in this case hosts internet. Theirs will continue to work both side by side with yours, or if you swap it back. I just finished setting mine up and did get permission from my host as well as confirm with Xfinity that this was okay. I don’t see this posted anywhere else and it was an absolute struggle to get an answer on this until I did it myself, so I really hope this helps someone going forward.

Tl;dr you can have two different Wi-Fi services side by side, and swap them as you need to as well.

I'm asking about the possibility of doing this without annoying the host. I have an agreement with xfinity for a year long plan at 1gbps. I just booked an airbnb for six months, and still have an ongoing contract with xfinity. The wifi here is only 200mbps, compared to my 1gbps. I got the okay to run my wifi alongside the host's and already moved services, but just discovered that they only have one coax. If I were to unplug theirs and plug mine in, after my six month stay, could I just plug theirs back in and it'd already still be set up? Or would it factory reset their router and require them to do the setup all over again?

I made a post a while ago about this place. No hot water for 22 days. Tricked into giving our phone number being told it was to be contacted by pest control. And lastly, no AC for three days. We reported all of this and left a review, but during the resolution the Airbnb ambassador told me they tried to pin the AC not working ON US! They said that because we had two dogs, the air filter had dog hair in it and destroyed the entire AC unit. This was a long term stay, because Airbnb wasn't letting us leave early despite being contacted SEVEN times. The host tried to say we never cleaned it (which is true, I didn't even know to clean it since it isn't my place and we were never told to clean it or given a way to do so) and tried to seek reimbursement for the entire air conditioning unit. When Airbnb informed them that they were responsible for maintenance like that, they tried to say I refused to let them enter the unit. I noticed that when they FINALLY hired a contractor they kept saying "you need to let them in when they come", which definitely struck me as odd when I was messaging them every day asking them to please send someone and no one stopped by, let alone asked to come in. Luckily we had screenshots showing that I had been LITERALLY begging them to send someone, but I digress. Quite honestly, I come from Michigan and we need to replace our air filters so far and few between that I didn't even know it was necessary to ever do. Maybe Florida is different on this, but I still don't see how it was our responsibility.

I have never heard of an issue like this. I tried to look it up, and couldn't find anyone running into this. Cleaning the air filter was never listed as our responsibility. We kept the place extremely clean and vacuumed daily, including the vent, but it wasn't enough to get through the grate apparently. The listing rules, description, etc does not list anywhere that it would be our responsibility. The host never provided us with a screwdriver or money to purchase a new air filter, and never let us know that it was our responsibility. Can they get our money to get a free AC unit because it was a long term stay?

Rented an Airbnb and this is on the wall of the bedroom. Asked host and they said it was from the previous tenants pushing the bed against the wall and it dyed the wall. Place came unfurnished so no way to verify if the bed was red or not 😔

Hi everyone! Now that I’m leaving this absolutely terrible place I decided to share my story. This isn’t necessarily for advice, but just to share and hopefully help someone out in the future if they run into this.

We moved in December, and booked this place until May. We booked it last second, and knew it was a bit odd, but had no idea how bad it was until the first day. We saw not one, but three cockroaches. We took photos and let the host know, and they told us to buy our own pest solution until they could come out. We had no money left, were exhausted from moving everything, so we just made sure to document everything and did what they asked. They did come by and spray but it was not an exterminator and was the Airbnb host himself that sprayed.

We have seen cockroaches on and off since then. We have a spray now, so we just spray them and they go away for a while. We were told this is normal since it’s Florida and it’s the gigantic ugly ones, apparently they come in regardless. In addition to the cockroaches at move in we had no hot water. We let the host know and they kept pushing this back as well, we never got hot water until three WEEKS later. We were showering at my partners house just to get hot water. We also made sure to document that.

People want to know why we stayed so far I’m willing to bet, so I want to tell you how predatory this place was. It was an entirely unfurnished unit despite the pictures depicting furniture. We spent thousands on things like bedding and tables and pots and pans. We were afraid if we left, we couldn’t move everything out in time, and the refund also wouldn’t hit fast enough between the months to get a new place. I’m willing to bet the hosts knew what they were doing there, and just didn’t care.

This is Florida, it has been around 85 degrees since I’ve even been in the state. Our air conditioning quit on us Monday, four days ago. Someone just came out yesterday. The heat caused me to get sick and start throwing up. It was 90 degrees in our house. We also have two dogs and we were extremely concerned the entire time and finally decided to get out. It should not take THREE DAYS to fix a deadly issue, let alone the three weeks it took them to fix our hot water at move in. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for much longer than I should have and figured maybe this was their first Airbnb and they just made mistakes, but it’s clearer to me now that isn’t the case.

They just reached out to me letting me know the ac still isn’t really fixed, and that they need to replace the entire unit. They just tried to blame it on dog hair in the filter. The technician had to fill the Freon back up as well as replace something outside, not sure what. He did clean the vents for us as well. I took it as them somehow trying to blame us as guests for not buying a screwdriver and unscrewing the filter ourselves to clear the filter during this time.

Is it really our responsibility to unscrew someone else’s air filter that we’re paying thousands of dollars to stay in, when they never gave us the means to do so? I very highly doubt this was our fault as dodgy as they’ve been with everything else. We’re getting a refund on the days without ac since we reported it to Airbnb directly this time instead of waiting on the hosts. We likely won’t get a refund on everything else. Take my advice and leave as soon as you see a cockroach. I can guarantee that won’t be your only issue on your stay, and maybe Airbnb can cover a hotel until your refund will arrive.

EDITING TO ADD: I forgot this because it was back in December, but here’s how it went when I contacted about the roaches: I reached out with photos of two roaches in our kitchen the day of move in. They let us know they contacted an exterminator and the exterminator would be by the following day. The following day, they said they needed my phone number for the pest control to contact me. I figured that they needed to call and make sure I was home, but then an exterminator never called. The Airbnb host did without my permission, asking me over the phone to purchase pest spray and they’d reimburse me. This threw me off but again this was after we had spent a couple thousand furnishing the unit, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and trusted them. We never received any reimbursement and the host came by and used our spray around the house. I feel they tricked us into giving our number out so they could contact off the platform and have it less documented. They did the same thing with the ac, they continuously told me they contacted someone and they’d be by that day for three days until eventually they showed up two hours late the final day. I met and spoke to the technician and he had asked how long I had been without air conditioning, and when I told him he was shocked. They never contacted him until that day because I kept pushing it.
