mechanic charged me a bunch of services i didnt want, now im flat broke.

im so sad. they already had my card on file so they charged things i did not know were on the bill. when i dropped my car off, it was just supposed to be like $300 for oil change, state inspections, and a transmission fluid drain+refill ONLY. those words exactly.

they ended up doing all this bullshit flushing services on stuff and i walked away with a bill of $700. i argued at the shop for like an hour before they ultimately told me to leave or theyd call the cops. im flat broke now, that extra money was supposed to be my grocery+gas money :/

the mechanic guy was so rude too. i explained that i knew exactly what i needed, and he acted like i was dumb as shit. he asked me if i knew if my car needed fluids (in general) and i spat "im a mechanical engineering major, yes I fucking know that." and thats when they told me to leave lol

is there anything i can do or am i shit out of luck?

hey, i dont know if anyone remembers my post from a while ago, but i had posted in january about being kicked out of my parents house during winter storm Fern after not taking the garbage out lol

i was able to get approved for an apartment and got the keys about 3~ weeks after that post. I still continued working full time as my rent is a bit pricey but I genuinely love the place we got. its a 2.2k square foot duplex insulated by a brick wall so we cant hear our neighbors at all, and a lot of my coworkers stepped in and gave me a lot of free houseware they had to spare.

here to report i just got my grades back for the semester, i was able to maintain my 4.0 ! this included 18 credits of a few gen electives but also calculus and gen chem 2. keeping my good grades was no doubt a side effect of getting approved for my own apartment, and i have no regrets.

i still have one last semester of fall 2026 before i start my transfer application to university, but some new info has come to me where it seems really likely I'll be able to get full fafsa benefits, funding my last 2 years of college. thanks everyone for your support, im definitely in a better place mentally and ive concluded that getting out of your parents house is the best thing you can do for your academic career lol
