Got through Jam and have a decent chance of getting Msc maths in IITK so I wanted to know if hostel accommodation is available for every MSc student or are the number of hostel seats limited? Will I have to submit an application for hostel accommodation, or getting admission into the institute is enough for hostel accommodation?
Aside from hostel accommodation, how is the maths department in iitk? I heard there's relative grading and none of my ug classes ever had relative grading so I'm nervous about whether I'll be able to cope with the academic pressure if I do manage to get the seat. Also, I've read there's not much placement opportunities for basic sciences but is there some chance of placement for maths?
How is the environment and campus (facilities and buildings quality, mess quality, location, etc.) And how are the students social life there in general?
Also, if you guys have anything else to give me a heads up, I'd really appreciate it 🙏
Yes, this is not a sub for JAM but there's no official subreddit for Jam so asking here for help as none of the other subs have helped and couldn't find a proper answer even though i tried searching similar questions so if you guys could please help 🙏
Based on my Jam rank i have highest chance of getting IIt Patna and a slightly high chance to get IIT kanpur among my other preferences so I wanted to know which one among the two I've mentioned is better for Msc in maths. Which one has a better maths department, and yes msc I heard there's not much placement opportunities for basic sciences, but which one has a higher chance of placement, if any?
Not just that, but how is the living situation? I've heard Kanpur is quite warm, and I'm scared it might be too hot for me to cope. Also, how do the campuses from the two institutes compare (facilities and buildings quality, mess quality, distance from city, etc.). And in which institute would have a chance for a good social life?
Apart from whatever doubts I have, if you guys have anything else to give me a heads up, I would be really grateful 🙏
(Not an engineering question and tried to post in Indian Academia sub but post is awaiting approval and automod instructed to post here)
Got through Jam and have the most probability to get a seat in IIT Patna out of all my options so I wanted to know how the mathematics department there is. Also, how tough is the course and how tight is the academic schedule.
Would an average/slightly above average student manage to complete the course with a decent GPA provided they do their coursework and study regularly?
Thank you in advance.
How is the mathematics department in iit patna? Might get admission into Msc Maths through Jam so I wanted to know how the professors are. Also, how competitive and challenging is the course?
