Mister Ed (1961-1966). One of those strange 60s sitcoms.

Alan Young starred alongside a taking horse in this sitcom that made the rare jump from syndication to CBS and lasted 6 seasons. Interesting to note is that why Mr.Ed could talk was never explained.

Remembering Elizabeth Montgomery who passed away 31 years ago today.

While best known as Samantha Stephens on “Bewitched”,she did some pretty good work in the TV movie world including one of my favorites as Lizzie Borden in the movie “The Legend Of Lizzie Borden” alongside Katherine Helmond and Ed Flanders. It should also be noted that Liz Montgomery was devoted to many causes including animal rights, women’s rights, gay rights and HIV/AIDS activism. She sadly left us 31 years ago today at only 62 due to cancer.

Comedian And Actor Bob Saget (Full House) would’ve been 70 today. ❤️

Bob was best known to tv fans as lovable dad Danny Tanner on “Full House” where he raised his 3 daughters and as the host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (which is still airing in 2026). Ironically despite his family friendly dad role,Saget had one filthy mouth in his standup and in other appearances. He sadly died in January 2022 due to a fatal fall. Rest Well Bob and happy 70th.

Forgotten ABC Sitcoms Of The 1980s

Some of these were experimental ideas, some were comebacks or vehicles for comedy legends and all of these didn’t last long on ABC in the 1980s. Do you remember any of these short lived 80s ABC sitcoms and which ones did I leave out?

Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1984-1987)

CBS Crime Drama that aired for 3 seasons although it was put on hold for a while due to Stacy Leach’s legal troubles (ironic). Keach would also play the title role of Hammer in 3 made for TV movies.

Gentle Ben (1967-1969)

1960s family friendly adventure show which aired on CBS (in the days before their pivot to adult oriented shows like All In The Family) and starred Dennis Weaver,Clint Howard and a black bear pet that lived in The Florida Everglades. It ran for 2 seasons and is related to a movie “Gentle Giant” that also had Howard and Weaver in it.
