Mayday Malone (revised)
This is a redraw of a post I made exactly a year ago
Possibly the most laughs in an episode (well, technically two). A+
Star Wars x Cheers
Hey! I made a thing — what do you guys think?
If you wanna see a full episode, help spread the word about our kickstarter campaign that goes live May the Fourth!
And if you’re a Disney lawyer, these aren’t the droids you’re looking for…
Did the Show Tone Down The Boston Angle?
I'm curious if the show towned down the Boston aspect of the show in order to make it more accessible? None of the characters have a New England accent other than Cliff. Other than the Redox there is very little local Boston stuff or culture mentioned. They almost never use Boston slang or talk about New England cuisine etc.
Here is a video on the time "Cheers" almost turned into a gay bar
m.youtube.comThis is Fraser's This is Fraser's evolution throughout the years From cheers to the reboot
The reason why I bring this up is because I was watching an episode Where they were going through photos of the over the years And Ronee And she says Frasier hasn't changed over the years. Truly did confuse me because he has changed over the years With his styles his hair and his look
I Stand Corrected with the Diane-Rebecca Observation
We are in the tail end of Season 9 and the writers have completely morphed Rebecca Howe into an insane, unappealing lunatic. The wedding sequence has drug on far too long, I now loathe her character and admit Diane added more to the show.
I really liked the addition of Alley's character in the beginning, but they developed her into a cartoonish buffoon that even the rest of the cast couldn't carry. The plot lines have gotten ridiculous. I do stand corrected.
What episodes should I most rewatch before I finish the show up?
Back during the pandemic, Cheers was one of the things I binged on. Thru several factors including my general reluctance to let things end, I didn't wind up finishing the show (pretty sure I finished season 9, at least). I want to go back and finish it up, but given the gap of several years, I want to refresh myself before I go back, and I do NOT have time to rewatch the whole thing since.
I'm looking for:
- truly significant episodes
- milestone episodes
- at least one episode per character that truly embodies what they're all about
- the funniest episodes
- the saddest episodes.
Thank you.
EDIT: And, of course it's a minute later that I notice the Abridged Watchlist. Sigh.
Still, if you have any other suggestions, that aren't on it or for paring it down, I guess.
Can always count on Mr. Clavin 😆
It's all in the delivery from Woody. His reaction to Cliff. Straight-faced. Especially after how Norm exits. 😆 I love it.
The "crummy bar" motif
I was a kid when Cheers was current, and I've lived in the southeastern US my entire life, so maybe my perception is different. Throughout the series, various characters refer to it as a lower-quality bar. I know it is not upscale, but the average bar today doesn't have all that woodwork. I'm curious as to whether any people here who were adults at the time would have considered it "crummy", which is a term that's been used several times.
I just watched “I Do, Adieu” again and I’m a mess.
I rewatch Cheers prob once every other year or so, maybe every year. It’s amazing how the characters on this show get so deep inside of you and how real this all feels how lived in no matter how many times I watch.
This episode plays with such emotional themes, like the threads of lives / roads not travelled just hits so hard as does the simple life lived with real and full love.
Here I am just in a puddle of tears. What a beautiful show.
