Recently just got a used new to me X5 35i, w 64k I orig had a Jeep. Your thinking whoa why, well family is expanding, and well the Jeep is too small and I’m getting older, and don’t need a mall crawler. Anyway need advice on how to get the best bang out of this purchase
Well boys n girls it’s definitely my CVT trans is shot: amongst like some other things, that can be fixed, but they want $9k for trans for a Patriot that’s 10 yrs old w 184k, so I might just sell it to dealership or get something from Carvana or CarMax, Wifey saw an X5, so my ass might go big n buy some German Engineering, I’m already using my BIL’s Audi A3 but it’s too damn small for a family of 3.
So I’m saying good by too the Jeep community, but I’ll stay here too answer any questions that I can to help serve your needs
Am I the only one who can literally work my overnight shift, sometimes 12 hrs vs my normal 10; 120am- 1:40pm or 11:40) go home be up till like 5:30-6p sleep till midnight and wake up and do it again? Also how many of us lost weight or gained? I know for my job, I’ve lost like 25 lbs. my job is lots of walking and lifting. Usually I’m lifting 5000lbs a night and walking a marathon
So on Saturday posted about my possible CVT being toast, well got a rental, Jeep got towed to Stealership. Won’t real know real damage or problems until late tomorrow or Thursday. Please hope it’s only the needing filter n fluid n not the whole transmission. If you saw my previous post of what happened to my Patriot; question is anyone in Chicago (NorthWest Burbs; or Western Suburbs) that can possibly help me. Money is kinda tight at the moment bc of some issues going on. But if willing to help/work with a payment plan that’ll help too. For context I’m waiting on my in-laws Mechanic to call me Monday to see what he can do, if can’t do it, who can you recommend. First off I wonder if the Subreddit was made by the OG on Facebook Todd Skelton; if not I need help.
For context last me wife and kiddo went for an evening drive away from the city for us to catch the new moon rise and potentially find some stars. But long story short on the way there Jeep ran fine; coming home were probably 10 miles or so away I had power to drive but the acceleration of RPMs seemed to jump/ and kinda of put a whine sound. As soon as we got home the engine light came on!

Can or is anyone willing to help me, have a 2016 Jeep Patriot; think my CVT just shit on me; went for a drive this evening with the wife and kid, on the way home my Jeep was holding speed but the RPMs we’re whiny. I’m safe at our place but need the car to get to work late tomorrow night into Sunday morning! If it helps I’m in Mount Prospect where I’m nestled between Arlington Heights by few block and Des Plaines by a mile and Elk Grove by 2 miles, car can drive but as stated it’s idle is whiny
