A protest was held at the Broadview ICE facility on Saturday against the police presence protecting the facility. With 20+ Broadview and Cook County officers entering the fenced "protest zone", this is how the police responded. Sgt. Carlson of Broadview PD pushes a protester down to the ground, waves a taser at the crowd, and immediately leaves the scene.
I bought a house a few years ago with no basement just cause it was the only thing I could afford at the time. We're currently renting in the naperville area but are having a hard time finding an affordable house to buy here. We have friends suggesting Glendale Heights but they don't have school age kids.
How are the elementary/middle schools, and would you recommend moving there or just keep looking for something in the Naperville/Lisle/DG area?

Now that my kids are well past the baby stage, I am going through a much overdue declutter. I already have a decent size pile of baby/toddler clothes and toys that I was ready to haul off to Goodwill, but it turns out my spouse has developed a major issue with donating things to Goodwill. (I can understand why but she had no alternative either)
I don't have time for a garage sale and I'm definitely not going to piecemeal it out on Facebook either. At this point, I just want to load up the truck and make a single donation at a reputable place and be done with it.

There’s an accident just west of Larkin Avenue on 80. The lanes seem to be shut down and police diverting traffic into Larkin avenue. It’s a mess right now.
Was driving on Lake St in Addison and noticed this sign. A "politician" (saying that lightly) taking advantage of his new role as supervisor. After doing some research on this guy, it looks like he may have had some karma coming his way. #karma

there's always gonna be people for and against anything, including d ata centers, but it seems pretty fucking weird that we have like five different people quoting the exact same company PR to explain why all this is good, and/or responding with statements that show they are clearly unfamiliar with the area (eg claiming there's no homes nearby when there's actually residences within a half mile).
it's gross, but pretty consistent with the history of corporations.

I live in the Dupage county area, and I have curly long hair but I’m really not looking for a place that does “curly tax” (has special prices for curly hair that’s like over 200 to take advantage of people with hair textures above like a 2a) or just has insane prices.
I have 3a-3b hair and it’s long, I just want it cut long layers and face framing pieces at the front, I really really don’t want to pay over 100 for this at all. Honestly below 60 would be better, I fear that’s unrealistic though.
