[Coldplay] The Scientist is about being stuck in a time travel loop.

Taking evidence from lyrics and video.

The protagonist lost his lover in the car accident we see in the video. He wanders back into town in shock and passes out on a mattress. Then he uses science to create some method of time travel, he is the eponymous scientist. This might be years or decades later or maybe he was already a scientist and had the potion in his pocket and he drank it, that doesn't matter for my theory.

So at some point he uses the time travel technology, maybe it's a pod he enters and pulls a switch or a chemical reaction in his own body from a drug infusion orally or intravenously, it's science, he is the scientist. At this point, the way the technology works, he starts experiencing his own life backwards. He is just traveling backwards in time at normal speed.

So the beginning of the video, what we see is the start of him "waking up/falling asleep" on the day he made it back to see his lover again. He is still moving backwards, and may continue to do so until being unborn, exemplified by the repeated lyric "going back to the start." I don't think he can stop this, and will eventually be reborn and live his life exactly the same way and get to the moment he started the time travel and loop back again.

"I had to find you, tell you I need you"

This is the impetus, he will do anything to find her, even break time itself.

"Runnin' in circles, chasin' our tails, Coming back as we are...Runnin' in circles, comin' up tails, Heads on a science apart"

This sounds like a time loop to me.

"I was just guessing at numbers and figures, Pulling the puzzles apart, Questions of science, science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart"

People probably interpret this proverbially but I think it could easily be taken to mean doing risky and experimental science without proper safety rails, not asking those questions because the heart is guiding him, which leads to the time loop problem.

"Nobody said it was easy, No one ever said it would be so hard"

Reference to media depiction of time travel, it is obviously considered a difficult or impossible task, no one says it is easy, but it is also glorified in the media and seems like an amazing awesome thing, not a curse to loop through time.

tl;dr: Chris Martin got stuck in a time loop trying to reconnect with his dead lover.

My contribution to the flag/symbol discussions.

I made this comment in another thread:

>I think we could mitigate some of those problems by combining an old and new symbol, such as a hollow sun with the anarchy A integrated into it, capturing the "solar" elements while still hearkening to more traditional anarcho-punk themes. I think using the base core concept of "sun with anarchy A" also allows each individual to aesthetically express that however they want, with the central unifying factor being any sun with an anarchy A, which is both specific enough that fellow solar punks would notice but also unique and generic enough that it doesn't really draw a lot of attention. Surely certain mini movements or sects or brands within solar punk would popularize their own specific design but ultimately that would hopefully bring more people into the fold who then discover the whole world of solar punk beyond their personal gateway experience.

>tl;dr: sun with anarchy A, everyone designs their own within that framework.

I was painting with my toddler and tried this out, orange A with a green circle and purple sun tendrils. I liked this, the orange is the fire inside, the green is the earth and all life, purple is the love reaching out to the community. As an experiment, I then switched from secondary to primary colors and got the red A, yellow circle, and blue sun streaks. It was okay.

Just painting with my kid, I started playing with shapes and put an orange dot in a green square in a purple triangle, which started meaning something to me, so I reflected and tried again.

The end result is an orange square inside a green circle inside a purple triangle. The orange represents the self, the crop field, the fire (one of the first technologies), a parallelogram signifying the boundaries of our own individual experience and reality. The green is the entire community, the earth and all life, much bigger than the square but still requires the square (and many other squares) to fill the sphere of our shared existence. The purple represents everything outside of us, the endless reaches of space and eternity outside of our (current) knowledge and impact, stretching out along 3 axis, up down, left right, forward backward.

Utilizing a triangular flag beckons to the resource management popular within solarpunk, as a right triangle flag with a 3 foot side is 4.5 square feet while a traditional 3x5 flag is more than triple that amount of material at 15 square feet. The simple geometry speaks to the base elements of our world and also references the mathmatical patterns we find in nature, but the secondary colors show something more evolved and developed than the basic primary tones.

This makes a useful flag as well as an easy to draw symbol. I still believe, as my comment stated, that we should all have our own unique solar punk symbols within some sort of familiar framework such as the anarchy A on a sun symbol, but I wanted to share my thinking with everyone here as hopeful inspiration for your own designs.

How worried about mercury poisoning from seafood are we?

We try to maintain a mostly pescetarian lifestyle, 2 adults 2 toddlers, and we try to make smart low mercury choices and stuff but the Internet would have me believe that we are all going mad as a hatter because of our diet.

The kids' average day may include 1 sardine for breakfast, 4 or 5 fish sticks at lunch, and then maybe 2-4 oz of salmon or barramundi or mahi mahi or something for dinner. This is certainly not every single day all 3 meals, but some days it is and we usually have some sort of seafood almost every day. Sometimes we have shrimp or we make tuna salad.

I am considering making pediatrician appointments to check their levels but I am also wondering if this is just beef & chicken lobbyists pushing bad studies and anti-Mediterranean propaganda. That's a bit of an exaggeration ofc but I am just wondering how serious this really is and if anyone else is feeding their kids a lot of seafood.

My toddler is obtaining human feces from somewhere.

I'm always worried she isn't eating enough but then she will take a massive dump but then her butt is totally clean when I wipe it. I think she is buying poop on the black market and just putting it in the potty when I'm not looking.

I am accessing a Hetzner cx43 from a thinkpad with Linux mint. I am using a custom ssh port for access and I think this may be the problem.

When I get everything setup and it gives me the dashboard token link, it just goes to an error page. I have reset the token so many times and copied it directly from the config file and it just doesn't work.

Do I need to open the dash board tui in a browser on my Ubuntu server or something?

▲ 4 r/Q4OS+2 crossposts

I am really struggling with this.

I previously tried to install Hannah Montana Linux but it didn't work on UEFI so now I am just trying to get the theme running. The theme says it is for KDE 4.2, does that mean it is impossible to install on q4os? Can I have any success downgrading my q4os installation version? I am using a 14 year old Acer c720 Chromebook with 4gb of ram.

If that is all impossible, I would at the very least like to get the icon package installed. It is a tar.gz file and I made a .icons folder in root and extracted it there, which is a folder with all the png in subfolders and a index.theme file.

Is it also possible to change/add a boot image over all the text during start up?

Edit: https://hannahmontana.sourceforge.net/

My city approved a Flock contract a few months ago and I'm just trying to learn more about the company. Thanks! I know some Linux but I'm still a bit of a noob.
