It’s graduation month in many places, and I see a lot of parents / aunts / uncles scrambling to find unique, practical or sentimental gifts for their kids. This is an important time in their lives, and they need tools and resources to help them panic a little lesser & ‘adult’ just a tad bit smoother than we did when we were kids.
So, get that car. Get that household appliance for their new home. Get that spa day or trip with their friends. Better yet, go on a trip with them yourself. Pass down that family heirloom, or buy them a piece of jewellery they’ll always wear around their neck. Get that planner for their first job.
But most importantly, teach them life skills, teach them financial management. Teach them how to manage money, home, HEALTH, and other boring admin stuff so they don’t go through life constantly panicking.
And if you do end up doing that, teach them HOW to create and put their own systems into place - systems they can turn to time and again. Systems that will help them ‘adult’ smoothly. Because we all know adulting is scary, and if there are tools and resources like The Adulting Toolkit to help your kids - stuff that we didn’t have growing up, then please please get it for them!
