What we know about Abdullah
Blacker than the ace of spades
Over 100 years old
From Ethiopia
Wore a turban
Gave lectures in New York as well as astrology readings
Enjoyed going to the Opera which Neville hated
Had great respect in New York despite being black
Rich enough to have a receptionist and thrive during the great depression in a pretty nice apartment building with a small library in it
Enjoyed ice cream and alcohol but couldn’t stand smoking
Slammed the door in people’s faces that doubted him and his teachings
Told people that when their manifestations appeared before them that they would “die” (their old self and doubt would die and they would become a new person)
Additional details provided by you:
Full name may have been G. Mahmud Ahmad Abdoullah
Quote of Neville’s about Abdullah ““I have seen scientists, doctors, lawyers, bankers, from every walk of life seek an audience with old Abdullah, and everyone Who came thought themselves honoured to be admitted to his home and to receive an interview. If he was ever invited out, and he was, he was always the honoured guest. He said, “Neville, you must first start with self. Find self, don’t be ashamed ever of the being you are. Discover it and start the changing of that self.”
He lived on 72nd Street, in a very lovely home that was owned by Morgenthau, whose son (Henry Morgenthau Jr) was then the treasury (sic) of our country, a cabinet member (US Secretary of the Treasury under President Franklin D. Roosevelt), but his father owned this house, but he didn’t live there, and he rented the first floor to my friend Abdullah.
