After a long lake day, didn’t even have time to unload and put away everything

Hi I’m new to this and would like to take my dog out to a really calm lake in Texas, does anyone have any suggestions on training him, keeping him safe besides a life jacket and also could someone tell me exactly what knot I need to tie on the raft with the black rope that’s included to help you back inside if someone falls out?
