Lodging in Cape Breton
Hi there - my husband and I are experienced riders and do a 2-week motorcycle trip every summer for the past 22 years. We are finally exploring eastern Canada and doing Gaspe Peninsula and Cape Breton (leaving from our home in Philadelphia). We prefer to not plan too far ahead on our motorcycle trips, which means not securing motels or other lodging until we are on the road, maybe a day ahead of when we arrive. On our trips in the US (other than Alaska), this hasn’t been a problem.
I’m a little worried about arriving on Gaspe and Cape Breton without having lodging secured ahead of time. I’ve read, especially for Cape Breton, that there are not many places to stay, at least along the scenic loop.
We are going the last two weeks of June. We like motels, lodges, or air B&Bs - we’re flexible and value scenic interesting locations. If anyone with experience in those two places can share their thoughts I would be grateful. I love the spontaneity of planning our route day by day, but I don’t want to be stuck without lodging.
