So I sold my old Streamdeck to a person through E-Bay. The same day that he paid I went to DHL and delivered the package. 1.5 weeks after, the status of the package didnt change, it still said "waiting to be picked up". The buyer informed me that in his account also no updates were recieved so I contacted DHL and I filled a formulary to find my package.
After 1 month DHL payed me the 80 EUR my package was worth as a compensation for losing my package.
Another month passed (so 2 months now) and now I recieve a message saying that my package finally arrived to the destination but since they payed me the 80 euros already I should transfer them back this amount in 14 days max.
I sent a customer service formulary saying that this was outrageous and I refuse to pay back. They took 2 months for a perfectly legal and normal package smaller than a shoe box within the same country (Germany). And because of their mistake I dont have the product anymore, the buyer obviously doesnt want to pay for it because it was 2 months ago that he needed it and on top of that they expect me to pay them back for their mistake.
My question is: What happens if I just dont pay them back the 80 EUR they sent me?
TL:DR Sold a Streamdeck on eBay, shipped via DHL in Germany. Package got lost for 2 months, DHL compensated me €80. Now the package finally arrived and DHL wants their €80 back within 14 days but the buyer no longer wants it after 2 months, I no longer have the item, and the whole mess was DHL's fault. Asking what happens if I just don't pay them back.
