Car Hire Perks [Gold]
Just wondering if anyone had any experience hiring a car, we don’t own a car so would be looking to hire one for our UK holiday.
What kind of perks did you get and was it worth it going through the partners vs a non partner?

I fly from Gatwick to Shanghai next week.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience upgrading cabins with China Eastern at the check-in desk?
If so, how much was it and was it worth it? Unfortunately, I've not been able to select my seat and an exit row seems unlikely.
I send a lot of items I send online with Royal Mail (I spend around £300/mo on postage). A lot of them turn up but once a month or so something goes missing, I always send using click & drop and get a proof of postage at the post office.
I used the tracked 48 service and the item had a value of about £6. I've been compensated in stamps - how is this legally allowed and why aren't they refunding people for postage and sending cheques for the lost item value?
Is there anyway I can 'trade' in the stamps for a cash alternative at a post office, I have no use for stamps as I send everything tracked as a large letter or bigger. I've found that items with stamps have a higher chance of going missing compared to a label bought and printed that can be easily scanned.
I am a gold cardholder and have a question about points building.
The welcome offer is 50k points when £5k spend is achieved within 6 months.
In the ‘earn points’ section of the card information there’s also “get an extra 5,000 bonus points for every £10,000 you spend, up to a maximum 10,000 bonus points per year.”
Does this mean at £10k spend you’d expect to see 55k (bonus) points + whatever points you’ve accumulated through ‘normal’ spend at 1p/£ (65,000 points total)?
Firs time poster - just received my Amex Gold card and excited to start using it, surprisingly I was approved for a high limit (about 12x what the limits on my other cards are). This is going to be my 'main' card going forward in order to meet the welcome points bonus criteria.
My question is - do you ever struggle to pay with your Amex? As in places refusing to take the card, I know the used to be a big problem but in the modern day is it still an issue?
Are there any catches or tricks I need to be aware of too? My two other cards are Visa and Mastercard so literally accepted everywhere (apart from those big supermarkets in the Netherlands).
