Black Couple Dynamics
I wanted to know if there are other Black couples out there that share a similar dynamic to my husband and I? I’m a fairly dark complexioned Woman while he’s a few shade lighter than me. I rarely see this dynamic when we are out and about and I’d genuinely like to see/hear about it more. I’d share a pic of us if I could.
Another thing too is that we get stared at a lot when we are out in public and I feel like it’s because I’m much darker than my husband. It sometimes makes me a bit uncomfortable but my husband and I often joke about why people do it. I think he senses my discomfort and tries to make me feel better about it.

Please stop acting like this isn’t a thing. Because it is. Research shows that more and more Black people prefer to date lighter complexioned individuals. It’s not in my head.
I just want to celebrate Black love and focus on the relationships that don’t fit the normal match up within our community. Lighter complexioned men with darker complexioned women. I think it’s a beautiful thing to see and should happen more often. It helps to break this dumb belief that lighter skin tones are more beautiful.
