Apparently, if enough people report your number as “spam” to Apple, your phone number can be permanently banned from iMessage and FaceTime. That’s exactly what happened to me.
A few days ago, I suddenly lost access to both iMessage and FaceTime on the phone number I’ve had since the 8th grade — and I’m now 37 years old.
What’s most disappointing is that there was no warning, no education, no investigation, and no opportunity to fix anything. Just an immediate permanent ban.
I’ve trusted Apple with my personal and business communication for years, and I never knew iMessage had policies that could completely remove your access without notice simply for using your phone for business outreach.
Whether you agree with cold calling or not, shutting someone off from core communication services they’ve used for decades without a warning feels extreme.
Protect your business. Don’t rely entirely on one platform for client communication.
