Penguicula Rock Set up right?

Lava rocks and pond pebbles as a reservoir and then absorbent rock substrate on top with dragon stone with wicks to help with moisture movement. Should I add maybe a layer on top of the stone like a peat perlite mixture or another carpeting?

What brand stratum for pings?

Hello, what Fluval Stratum brand is okay to use for pinguiculas? I saw some for shrimp and betta fish, no difference? I am planning to chop moss up and mix it in while using it as a grip for my pings on some dragon stone. Saw a video of what seemed to be a advant ping grower doing this.

Mexican Pings and light

Is there any reasonable way to get the vibrant colors from these pings without using a grow light? If they are found in the wild, shouldn't there be a way we can have them outdoors ready too?

Ping rock disaster.

I'm ready right now, and I am about to build my ping rock first to make it ready before I purchase and thrift a nice bowl for it. Perfect size, it looks good and is heavy duty, so the rock will not break it under as easily, just to get home and fill it up barely with water for the bottom to fall out in a perfect circle. Literally fell out and it cut my hand. Unrefundable 20 dollars, and the dragon stones I picked up. Do not wick at all. I can only imagine I would have to now drill holes, which seems impossible to do if it won't even wick up 3 inches. Atleast Im going to the airport so I can do more shopping on my way back.

Building a ping rock

I'm going to put the pings on a limestone rock. I have everything ready, and about to buy them except for one detail I'm not sure of. How do the pings bond with the rock or crevices? Is there a soil mixture I need? What is easy to obtain instead of specialty ordering online? I have pear and perlite, would I smear it on so the little roots can attach, or what's the deal, guys.

Can Mexican Butterworts be outside?

Sorry if this is common sense but Is there a reason why I see zero mexican tropical butterworts outside in bowls or terrariums. I only see temperate bogs but why not these guys? I want to make bowl to leave on my balcony since I have no space for grow lights and location for them. Is there a way I can have them outside so they can get the colors? Without sun they stay green and I want to put it onto my balcony where they would get morning sun otherwise I’d have to get a temperate one

How do I water this

Told this sanguine pitcher can take the sun but it seems to be dehydrated at the end of every day. I water my asian pitchers when the top soil moss gets dry but they are always in the shade. Is this one of those where you water a few times a day.

This venus fly trap I got recently and I noticed the traps are what looks like they have been eaten and the 2 of the new traps turned black? But the shapes seem like a bug woudnt do that any ideas?

u/OkZookeepergame2463 — 7 days ago

I didn’t even notice but there is smaller traps compared to the larger ones. I’m pretty sure the first photo is a separate plant but the second might be too? It doesn’t seem to match the color way of the main plant next to it.

About a week ago I made a post of this leaf falling over and I thought it was a pitcher but what seemed like a majority consensus was a special leaf a sarrencenia will make to help it obtain light. I still propped it up with some plant prop up sticks and now i noticed the top looking like super small pitchers but im not sure, take a look. First picture recent and 2nd was be noticing growth at the base a week ago about

This is a sanguine pitcher plant I had for only a day. It came in a shipment with a couple other plants yesterday and I set it aside here in between some plants so I can figure out where I’m gonna put this one specifically however I only thought about his location for like 10 seconds and focused on the rest of the plants, moving them into my bodyguard for like two hours and forgot about it overnight yesterday. There was no red marks and now it looks like its got sun burns. Is this gonna be one of those situations where it just slowly dies back now.

Straight from California carnivores across the United States to Florida. The package was literally delivered to my hand when I was working on my garden. my drosera X Hercules look and rough and has zero dew. This one my favorite of the bunch and looking forward to it coming back to life!

Shipment from California Converse came in but with the chupacabra Venus strap there’s a drosera with it. Last thing I want is a spatula or another annoying species like it flowering and living js to die everywhere in my bog.

For aesthetic purposes I made a tiny river for my final picture I made in my head. Cut and held to with sand and aquarium grade stone with 0 additives that can change any chemical levels and leak over minerals. I have moss coming soon to start shielding the top layer to stop the heat from the Florida sun and provide more structure to the edge of the little river. No misquotes tho I am def assuming it’s gonna dry up quickly.

Also to add from my previous post of me building this there was people saying it was not deep enough. Just using my own logic the man I bought these from was a professional who’s been doing this for about 10 years it sounded like from trade shows from texas to florida and said these plants can live in the pot they are in for their entire lives. The bog is deeper than the pot so my conclusion is space isn’t a problem and some of these traps are years grown. I’ll separate and repot when they get too big but for now I can’t see it being a problem for 2 years. Although it won’t matter what I think the plants have the final say

I need this species of moss for bets in florida for my carnivorous bog. Apparently it is very sun tolerable for Florida and thrives in bog environments but I can not find a reliable place and etsy I would say has so many different species and often broad named. Any reputable places or sellers with direct links or names?
