Rating all hotels I’ve stayed at in 2026

I absolutely love reading reviews on here so I figured I’ll rate all the hotels we stayed at since the beginning of this year (only stay in 2025 was Hotel du Couvent).
I’m happy to answer all questions and if anyone is interested I can also post an in depth review on here. We travel as a family of three, sometimes four, no kids under 18. Based in Munich, Germany.

Vier Jahreszeiten, Hamburg

  • Service: 9/10
  • Location: 10/10
  • Public areas: 9/10
  • Room: 10/10
  • Food & Beverage: 10/10 (home to one of the few 3* restaurants in Germany)

Hotel Bareiss

  • Service: 10/10
  • Location: 8/10 (beautiful scenery, but you need a car)
  • Public areas: 10/10
  • Room: 8/10
  • Food and Beverage: 11/10 (also houses a 3* restaurant, the best one in Germany imo)

FS Seoul

  • Service: 9/10
  • Location: 8,5/10 (really depends on your preference, but great for sightseeing)
  • Public areas: 9/10
  • Room: 9,5/10
  • Food and Beverage: 8,5/10 (best breakfast, amazing room service)

The Okura Heritage Wing Tokyo

  • Service: 8,5/10
  • Location: 8/10
  • Public areas: 8,5/10
  • Room: 8,5/10
  • Food: 8/10 (only had breakfast here)

Andaz Prague

  • Service: 7,5/10 for the restaurant, 10/10 for housekeeping and front desk
  • Location: 9,5/10
  • Public areas: 8/10
  • Room: 9/10 (extremely clean)
  • Food: 7,5/10 (breakfast was an 8, but lunch and dinner have room for improvement)

Hotel du Couvent, Nice

  • Service 6/10 (concierge was pretty much useless, the whole team needs more training, they were a bit too casual imo)
  • Location: 8,5/10
  • Public areas: 11/10
  • Room: 9/10
  • Food: 5/10 (horrible breakfast offering, strange bar menu, soggy truffle fries, didn't try the main restaurant after having breakfast...)

Matsumoto Jujo

  • Service: 8/10
  • Location: 7/10 (not in the centre, but there are taxis available)
  • Public areas: 8,5/10 (the library is very cool)
  • Room: 8/10
  • Food: 5,5/10 for the first evening, 7/10 for the second evening (overall it was disappointing and I noticed that western + Japanese guests didn't finish their plates)

Hotel Shikinoyakata Ashinoko Hakone

  • Service: 6,5/10 (this hotel caters to Japanese guests, if you do not speak Japanese I personally wouldn't go. It was difficult to ask simple question and the one girl who spoke some English seemed very unhappy. She always had a look on her face as if the job was extremely dreadful.
  • Location: 6/10, but 9/10 (if you rent a car. View is spectacular)
  • Public areas: 7,5/10
  • Room: 8/10
  • Food: 5/10 (the onsite restaurant offers French cuisine. The portion size was absolutely beyond me and I do not eat a lot. There is no a la carte and no other option close by, so without a car you are screwed. The taste was ok, but not great.

Not chubby, but surprisingly good: Hyatt Centric Kanazawa. At least out of the western chain hotels this will be the best one. Location is top notch and service was excellent.

Strecke Bremen-Frankfurt eingestellt

Review and Restaurant + Sightseeing Recs. below:

The Rate:
Hyatt Prive, I guess most people on here have heard about it, but the benefits are:
- 100$ Credit (which turned out to be 100€, which is even better)
- Room upgrade, confirmed within 24-48h of booking
- Free breakfast
- Hyatt Prive = Standard Rate

Check In:
Very quick, no wait time. Room was ready at 11am, the benefits were explained, we got a lemonade + coffee and were shown to our room. 4pm Late check out also wasn’t a problem.

The Room:
We stayed in a 40m2 Premium Twin Room. The Premium Rooms are the largest aside from the suites and definitely very roomy.
I’ll attach a picture so you can see which rooms face the tram tracks and which don’t. Our room did, but you couldn’t hear anything aside from police sirens.

The Location:
10/10. Everything can be reached by tram or by walking.
There’s parking available if you come by car and Uber pick up is right infront of the main entrance.

The Breakfast:
Breakfast is served 7-11am. There’s a buffet and room rates that include breakfast also offer a selection of very tasty menu items (no limit as to how many dishes you can order).
It’s definitely worth going.

Dinner (Zem Restaurant)
The restaurant offers a mix of Czech and American options. A good mix of everything, but you can tell it’s adjusted to American guests, which there were a lot of.
If you have the credit it’s definitely worth going, I’d rate the food 8,5/10, but Prague has a lot to offer.

The Gym/Spa:
Gym is good, Sauna and Steam room are very nice - everything is very clean.

The Service:
Overall very friendly, but the restaurant staff needs further training. They’re too slow and kind of unorganized.
Gloria, working during breakfast was exceptional though, she deserves a raise.

Overall I’d rate the stay 9,5/10. It was pretty much prefect. I liked it better than FS. FS was a little more polished and has a pool, it’s also 3-4x the price, which isn’t worth it imo.

Now to the Prague recommendations:

Dinner:
- The Eatary (exceptional wine list)
- Casa De Carli (1* Star)

Drinks:
- Aperol Terrazza (reviews aren’t that good, but we had an amazing time, their food is very good)
- Hotel Bar is good as well, they offer the Andaz hour.
- L4 Coffee (close to John Lennon Wall)

Sights:
- Prague Castle (the GetYourGuide ticket worked perfectly fine and gets you access to the different buildings, don’t be surprised to only receive one QR code for multiple people.)
- John Lennon Wall
- Hercules Fountain
- Banksy Museum (highly recommended going!)
- Kafka Museum
- Clementinum (book the tickets early!!)

Some tips:
The trams run very frequently. Over 65 and under 15 ride free. Other than that you either get a ticket for multiple days or pay for 30-90min.
I recommend doing it inside of the tram. You just select 30 or 90min on the display and tap your card. Ticket is printed right away and doesn’t have to be validated, unlike the ones bought at the stations.

For months I’ve been getting emails (not scam, directly by rimowa) to register “my new suitcase” for their lifetime warranty.
Out of 9 emails only 1 was correct (this one time I had actually bought a suitcase), the other 8 came in directly after buying stickers or something else.

Today I got one again. I bought the Prague sticker, got the email with the receipt and another one to register my new essential cabin, which I did not buy.
I got a sneak peak at the SAs IPad and saw it said “9200€” spent on my account, which is not the case.

All these suitcases are also listed in my profile on the rimowa website, ready to be registered for lifetime warranty.

Now my question: does this pose any issue to the person who actually bought it. I don’t really care about the emails, but I’d feel bad if someone else, who is the actual owner, had a hard time registering for lifetime warranty.

Btw my two emails to Rimowa asking about this were left unanswered, three SAs I had asked about it didn’t know, the guy in the Prague store was nice, but not fluent enough to explain the situation.

If you have any questions let me know and I’ll answer them in detail in my review in a few days
